It is natural and almost impossible for a pregnant woman no matter the colour, shape, size or age not to gain some weight during conception or after putting to bed. This happens because the growth of the baby and development depends on it. However, because many women are caught unaware of this development or didn’t prepare for it, they don’t always know how to make best use of the situation. There have been cases where husbands get irritated with the new look of their wives which often affects their sexual life and cause general apathy. The wife now looks ugly, not fascinating, not the honey or sugar as she used to be. What then can a woman do or how can a woman get rid of unwanted pregnancy weight fast?
It must be noted at the outset that it is not easy to get rid of pregnancy weight for the simple reason that after a woman put to bed, there will be a considerable reduction in the level of Progesterone-hormone responsible for the increase in metabolism and which allow you to burn calories. The first thing you have to do is to rest for nothing less than eight weeks before you start to get rid of that unwanted pregnancy weight.
One of the natural things to do to get rid of your unwanted pregnancy weight is to cultivate the habit of taking good diet. During this period, consuming low-fat milk and dairy products and choosing whole grain products like whole wheat bread and whole grain cereal can help you lose weight. Other foods you can count on include low-fat, high-fiber foods such as fruits like apples, oranges, etc and raw vegetables while not forgetting carrots and red pepper strips for healthy snacks. You must also look for low-fat products and you don’t need to drink whole milk in order to make good breast milk and instead of eating fried foods, choose broiled or baked ones. You may also to need to limit your intake of sweets, which have extra calories from sugar and fat.
Another way to curb excess weight during this period is to engage in short slow walks around the house. Walking around, not necessarily long distance is an ideal way for a woman to get rid of their pregnancy weight fast. To walk properly, maintain correct posture by walking tall with your stomach tight. Lift your chest, relax your shoulders and keep your head up. After sometime, you can increase your walking rate but seek expert advice on this before you do.
A way to engage in exercise is to also go swimming and do aerobics in the water. You also need to incorporate aerobic and strength training exercises after pregnancy to burn calories and keep your muscles and bones strong. This helps to reduce depression and helps in ensuring good sleep.
You have to understand that to shed baby weight might not be easy as it seems especially since a caring woman won’t be able to sleep very well and when you gets too tired, your body releases stress hormones that promote weight instead of reducing it.
However, by and large, everything will be fine with the body when you make it a duty to take good care of you eating healthy food, sleeping at the right time, doing exercises and don’t forget to ask for help from your doctor and dietician.

The 2 Great Actions You Should Take To Lose Weight by Sabbat Lama
If you are very serious about losing weight in a healthy way that would last for quite a long time, or even forever, there are some basic steps you have to take. No, it’s not magical steps or some kind of mumbo-jumbo; its something anyone can do without even being through any formal education system. But this must be preceded by goal setting, or else your action could just fade out slowly. And you must track your progress like info marketers track their campaign success.
Now let’s see these actions to take:
Dieting: Lots of us easily get carried away by hyped promises on different unnecessary weight loss programs, pills, fad diets and so on. Although some might even turn out to be useful, they sometimes make our body lose well developed muscles; they shrink. Water is also lost even more than the fat. Why should we be robbing Peter to pay Paul? It is quite unhealthy, and besides, it makes the lost weight return again later.
The action you have to take is to eat good food or good diet that wont cause you such side effects later; it’s the healthiest way to lose weight you want.
And oh, your goal doesn’t need to include having great looks like Beyonce or Iman, because you could just get broke forever while they get richer.
Reaching your best body size in good health is the most important goal instead of fad diets and compulsory fasting. So, go get the right food and good exercise.
Exercises:
Everyone knows that exercise is among the top actions to take in order to lose weight. Even though some ladies run away from it; that it could add some masculine features on them, but I bet you, you will still be women, healthier, happier and more shaped without looking like the muscular sculptural works of Michael Angelo.
Remember; apart from weight loss, exercise is a blessing to the body in different ways. Apart from weight loss, exercise increases your smartness, efficiency, fat burning rate, body circulation and sweet dreams whenever you close those beautiful eyes to sleep.
Also, exercise helps to make your skin to look polished like silk of the finest quality as well as boosting the immune system.
I bet you, good diet and exercise are top actions that when taken, they can turn you from a Yokozuna to a Shawn Michaels.

Weight Training For A Strong Lean Body by Robert D. Franklin
One question that is posed all the time, which shows how many people miss the big picture regarding the benefits of strength training, is something like:
“What exercise can I perform to isolate my [abs, quads, biceps, triceps, etc]”
It doesn’t matter which muscle, but the question always seems to be how to ‘isolate’ it. My response is usually – “Why would you want to isolate it?”
The first thing that should be taught is that the body does not work well in muscle isolation. It works better in movements along a kinetic chain; that is, large portions of the body assist other portions of the body in completing a complex movement. In fact, there really is no such thing as true muscle isolation. There is almost always a nearby muscle group that will assist in some way with whatever movement you are doing. However, this article compares attempting to ‘isolate’ body parts via single-joint exercises to the much more effective strategy of performing multi-joint complex movements.
When you attempt to ‘isolate’ muscles by performing single-joint exercises, you are actually creating prone to injury. You are really creating a body that is a compilation of body parts, instead of a powerful, functional unit that works together.
You can continue trying to "isolate" body part exercises and end up up hobbling around in a body bandaged up with joint problems, tendonitis, and excess body fat. But, if you would rather have a lean, muscular, injury-free body that works as a complete powerful unit to perform complex movements, shift your focus away from muscle isolation.
Focusing on how well your body functions will give you the side effect of a body that looks even better with excellent results. Take a look at the physiques of any NFL running backs, wide receivers, or world class sprinters. These guys almost NEVER train for muscle isolation yet are absolutely ripped! Who wouldn't want a physique like Maurice Green or Terrell Owens?
Another benefit to moving away from the ‘muscle isolation’ mindset in weight training to a more ‘complex movement’ mindset is that you will find it much easier to lose body fat. The reason is that by focusing more on multi-joint complex movements as opposed to single-joint muscle isolation lifts, you not only burn a lot more calories during each workout, but you also increase your metabolic rate, and stimulate production of more fat burning and muscle building hormones.
Multi-joint exercises should comprise the majority of your weight training workouts, but there can be some benefits with just minor inclusions of single-joint exercises for variety. I choose to build my training programs with about 90-95% multi-joint exercises and about 5-10% single-joint exercises at most.

Leave It Alone and It's Gonna Get Worse by Richard Morreale
Leave it alone and it's gonna get worse. I've been thinking a lot lately about the many lessons that I learned during the treatment of a number of major health issues I suffered over the last few years and how those lessons relate to not only handling health problems but also to handling negative situations in our personal or business life.
Leave it alone and it's gonna get worse. How do I know? Well, it was January in 200I. I was working as a Project Manager on a contract with the Home Office in England. It was a critical, 600 million dollar, time sensitive project that was already 6 years late when I was asked to take it on. The client wanted me to either deliver it or cancel it. You might have worked on those kinds of projects in the past - long hours with very few weekends off, living out of a suitcase, getting home to see my wife not as often as I would have liked, loads of challenges, loads of communication issues and 43 police Chiefs that I had to keep happy. Just a little stress. My team and I decided to deliver it so we put a plan in place to do just that.
It was during this time in 2001 that I realized something was wrong. I started having symptoms that concerned me a little but should have concerned me a lot. Rather than go into great detail about what the symptoms were it had quite a lot to do with the excessive number of times I went to the bathroom during the day and the excessive number of times that I woke up to go during the night.
Also, another symptom I had was when I had to go, I had to go, period. I had some embarrassing times in the center of London where there is a dearth of bathrooms. At any rate, I kept kidding myself saying that I was probably suffering from a kidney infection. Then, additional symptoms showed up - blood in my urine and I still kept putting off going to the doctor. I didn't go until October 2003. That was over 2 years of putting it off.
It was October 23, 2003. It was a typical overcast cool October day in London. It was 9:15 in the morning and my wife and I were sitting across the desk from my doctor. After a few pleasantries, he turned to me and said, Richard, you have cancer. Well, when you hear the 'c' word - Cancer - you immediately think of the 'd' word - Death. Also, because of the length of time I had kidded myself about the symptoms, tests showed that my cancer which originally had started in my bladder had spread from my bladder to lymph nodes in my groin. From early 2001 until October 2003, I had left it alone and what happened? It got worse - really worse. But you know what, I still didn't pay attention to the lesson.
Leave it alone and it's gonna get worse. How do I know? It was in July of 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. As an aside, It was hot. People say, but it's a dry heat. I tell them I'm not talking about whether it's wet or dry, I'm talking about heat and it was hot. I was attending my first National Speakers Association convention. I had been given the all clear from my Bladder Cancer in May 2004 and I was, obviously, very pleased. It was at that convention that I first noticed I was suffering from a shortness of breath. I fooled myself and attributed it to my Cancer Radiotherapy treatment I had received. And for the next 3 years that's what I continued to tell myself. By September 2007, however, I was suffering from shortness of breath when I exerted myself the least little bit. I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without having trouble breathing. I couldn't walk from my house to my office which was only 100 feet or so without the same problem. It finally came to a head while I was !
taking a couple of weeks looking at property to buy in North Carolina. I was having trouble walking through the houses and up and down stairs. And one day during the two weeks, I believe I had a heart attack. I say I believe I had one because I left it alone. I didn't go to the doctor until I got back home to England. When I finally went to the Doctor, I was told that my Aortic Valve was not opening and closing properly and not only that, but 3 of my arteries were just about closed up. I remember my Egyptian heart surgeon saying to me, 'Richard, if you don't have your valve replaced and bypass surgery, and have that done immediately, you may have 6 to 12 weeks to live. There again, I had left it alone, kidded myself into thinking that it was just a temporary condition and would go away on its own and my condition just got worse.
So, what's the lesson? Well, I'm sure you've figured it out by now. But if you haven't, here it is - leave it alone and it's gonna get worse.
I'm talking about almost any negative situation you face. A situation you're facing at the office. A situation you're facing in your personal life. Or a medical situation you might be facing. If you leave it alone it's gonna get worse. So, the questions I have for you are these. What situation are you leaving alone? What situation in your life should you be doing something about but aren't? What situation in your business should you be doing something about but aren't? Could it be a personal relationship that really isn't working? A job that you know is wrong for you? Could it be your relationship with your boss? Could it be your finances or your weight or your smoking or your health or whatever else that you are putting off doing something about? Well, whatever it is, my suggestion is to do something about it now. Because remember this - leave it alone and it's gonna get worse.

Scientists, crime scene investigators, firefighters and even welders are most likely the kind of people that need this kind of safety supply. With breathing masks, you can do your job without facing the risk of being contaminated from any harmful chemicals. Aside from this, respirators would also protect your work or evidences from being contaminated with contaminants that your body.
Of course, masks aren’t just used in a work environment. Every household may also benefit from these safety supply items. They may come in handy during emergency situations or as protection during fumigation schedules.
There are different kinds of masks. There are full face respirators and there are also half face ones. So, even though you know what this item is, it doesn’t make buying any easier. This only means that running to a safety supply store and asking sales personnel doesn’t guarantee a good respirator mask. Knowing the different types of breathing units is still highly advisable.

Seniors and Medications. Make sure Your Pharmacist Works for You by Paula Stone
A senior recently found out just how bad it can be for seniors with multiple health issues.
He has glaucoma. His eye doctor prescribed a medication for his glaucoma.
The doctor knew his entire health history, which includes a lot of heart problems, though the patient never had a heart attack
But the glaucoma medications he was taking can cause heart attacks in people who are at risk.
It should never have been prescribed for this particular patient.
He had a heart attack in January.
And then…finally…his eye doctor took him off the medication…too late.
This is something a good pharmacist might notice, too, but his didn’t, even though he is a family friend.
Doctors make mistakes.
Medicines conflict with each other and seniors often pay the price.
And prescriptions are strong medicine.
One of the effects social workers see in seniors is mental confusion that is caused by medications.
Mental confusion may NOT be Alzheimer’s in all cases.
For one thing there are different kinds of dementia. Brain damage from strokes is just one other. But people often recover significantly from strokes.
Even a lack of B vitamins can cause mental confusion and slurred speech, especially in cancer patients who have not been able to eat.
And nursing homes often drug patients to keep them quiet, a practice that makes them seem more fragile and disabled than they really are.
Simple exhaustion can make people, even young people confused. Just ask any new parent.
But it is worse for seniors, because people around them assume their minds are going when they aren’t.
My doctor carries around a little manual that has facts about different medications listed in it. Some people might assume that she is less than expert.
I feel differently.
I have a lot of allergies to medicines, including some that could kill me. I want a doctor that checks everything twice.
And I always ask the pharmacist if she sees a problem, too. She knows me and she cares. I depend on her.

Cardio Workouts With Heart Rate Shifts Are Most Beneficial by Robert D. Franklin
Are you a cardio fanatic? Seems everyone thinks that "cardio" is the ultimate way to get in shape and lose body fat. With previous research and experience, I have to disagree.
It's more often than not to hear fitness pros, doctors, and other health professionals prescribe low to moderate intensity aerobic training (cardio) to those trying to prevent heart disease or lose weight. Sometimes they may suggest something like:
"Perform 30-60 minutes of steady pace cardio 3-5 times/week maintaining your heart rate at a moderate level"
Before you cave in to this popular belief, you may want to consider some recent scientific research that indicates that steady pace endurance cardio work may not be the greatest solution.
Know that our bodies are designed to perform physical activity in bursts of exertion followed by recovery, or stop-and-go movement instead of steady state movement. This is one of the most important aspects to implement in your training program.
Another idea to keep in mind regarding the benefits of physical variability is the internal effect of various forms of exercise on our body. Scientists have known that excessive steady state endurance exercise (everyone's different, but sometimes defined as greater than 60 minutes per session most days of the week) increases free radical production in the body, can degenerate joints, reduces immune function, causes muscle wasting, and can cause a pro-inflammatory response in the body that can potentially lead to chronic diseases.
On the other hand, highly variable cyclic training teaches the heart to respond to and recover from a variety of demands making it less likely to fail when you need it. Let's think on this... exercise that trains your heart to rapidly increase and rapidly decrease will make your heart more capable of handling everyday stress, which can cause your blood pressure and heart rate to increase rapidly. Steady endurance training does not help your heart handle rapid changes in heart rate or blood pressure.
To summarize, some of the potential benefits of variable cyclic training compared to steady state endurance training are as follows: improved cardiovascular health, increased anti-oxidant protection, improved immune function, reduced risk for joint wear and tear, increased muscularity (versus decreased muscularity with endurance training), increased residual metabolic rate following exercise, and an increased capacity for the heart to handle life’s every day stress factors.
Doing swimming workouts in a variable intensity fashion may also be more beneficial than just swimming for a long duration at the same speed. Same goes for bicycling -- that is why mountain biking, which involves extreme ups and downs at various intensity levels may also be more beneficial than just a long flat steady pace bike ride.
One of the most effective forms of variable intensity training to really reduce body fat and bring out serious muscular definition is performing wind sprints. Wind sprints can be done by sprinting for 10-30 seconds, and then taking 60 seconds to walk for recovery before your next sprint. 6-12 total sprint intervals is quite a challenging workout for most.
In addition, weight training incorporates short bursts of exertion followed by recovery periods. High intensity interval training (varying between high and low intensity intervals on any piece of cardio equipment) is yet another training method that utilizes exertion and recovery periods. For example, an interval training session on the treadmill could look something like this:
Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog
Interval 1 - run at 8.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 2 - walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Interval 3 - run at 10.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 4 - walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Repeat those 4 intervals 4 times for a very intense 20-minute workout.
You may also find great ways to incorporate variable intensity cardio training using a jump rope, a rowing machine, or even outdoor hill running.
Make sure you try to train your body at highly variable intensity rates for the majority of your workouts to get the most beneficial response in terms of heart health, fat loss, and muscle maintenance.

Young Sufferering Acute Hearing Loss. Hearing Loss IS No Longer Just An Elderly Difficulty by Paula Stone
The National Center for Health Statistics says that fifteen percent of Americans less than the age of 19 suffer some measurable amount of hearing loss.
Yes, children are going deaf primarily from excessive noise.
And the noise is everywhere in our environment. Playing loud music can damage a young person's hearing. Like the toddler who turned the stereo up as loud as it would go…only for a few seconds…but his hearing was undoubtedly damaged before their aunt could get to the volume controls, as was hers.
But there are other potential dangers to our hearing. We all love our tunes and we are frequently listening to something.
Earphones, all types of them played louder than 80 decibels will damage our hearing. 140 decibels is really a serious problem.
And any event where loud noises occur, automobile races, fireworks, concerts, even cheering can all damage hearing.
You may have found your ears ringing after leaving a concert or even an action movie.
It's a sure indication of hearing loss. A modern hearing device will probably play a part in your future if you want to stay in contact with people and the world and still get pleasure from music.
Many musicians have hearing problems caused by the amplifiers that make music so stunning at concerts. The big sounds of rock bands are truly deafening, especially to the folks onstage. And the enormous speakers pumping music out to the audiences are truly a danger to everyone's hearing in the audience.
Nobody who is in the music business wants to end up deaf. It's practically impossible to sing harmony if you have significant hearing loss. Just ask some of the members of some of the old heavy metal and rock bands how grueling it is to perform live these days. They were the first to kick up the volume and the noise in concerts, but the noise lives on in more modern music.
A significant number of military veterans, even young ones, have significant hearing loss from gunfire, cannon fire, explosions and concussions, all of which can damage hearing. In modern firing ranges soldiers may utilize hearing protection, but it is not effective in many cases.
Gun hobbyists also have hearing problems connected with gunfire.
This variety of hearing impairment is "sensorineural" or nerve damage from noise resulting in deafness. It can vary in seriousness and maybe result in out-and-out deafness.
Noise is a brutal enemy of good hearing. Once someone's hearing is damaged by noise, regardless of the source, it's never going to be the same.
Get some ear protection and turn down the music. You'll be glad you did.

Easy Feng Shui - Health by Kelly Whetstone
There are many aspects to health from a feng shui perspective. Health covers much more than our physicality. We desire all aspects of our lives and our beings to be healthy. A healthy mind, a healthy self image, healthy relationships are all optimal states of being in this human evolution. The meaning of health is balance. And balance is achieved in many ways through many means. Physically, our bodies require a balance of activity and rest. Mentally we require stimulation and silence. It is Yin and Yang in operation; Yang being the outgoing, action oriented male energy and Yin being the nurturing, receptive feminine energy. We all run both energies regardless of our gender. We have to do this in order to experience optimal health in any area of life.
The health area of the bagua is located in the very center and is represented by the symbol of balance, Yin/Yang. The health area is deserving of attention because it is the foundation for a healthy life. It touches all of the other areas. The Health area is also the place where you can work on life situations not specifically addressed by the other eight areas. The balance of every other area of life is affected by health so it is important to enhance it. In life without your health it is difficult to have a thriving career, supportive relationships, express your creativity and generate the energy to bring in abundant prosperity.
Actually you can enhance your health in every area of the bagua. Each area has a corresponding body part and if you are having any issues with your body you can work with enhancements or cures in the specific areas with the intention of healing your physical body.
Ð’· Prosperity/ Abundance rules the hip
Ð’· Fame/Reputation rules the eye
Ð’· Relationship/Marriage/Love rules all major organs of the body
Ð’· Creativity /Children rules the mouth

The element for the health area is earth, grounded, stable, balanced earth. The color is yellow or earth tones and the shape is square, flat or horizontal. Earth is created by fire in the creative cycle so the color red and candles work extremely well in this area. Wood pierces earth in the destructive cycle so you want to avoid the color green and tall tree like plants. Plants with round leaves are fine and the soil they are planted in is earth so they are a great enhancement for this area. Things made of earth, pottery, crystals, slate tile, which may also be square enhance the health area.
The health area is right in the middle of your home which can make it a bit tricky to work with depending on your floor plan. If this is an open area use a table against the closest wall to place enhancements or cures. All areas flow into each other and intention is the key. The health area in the house that I live in contains a staircase so I have placed several paintings with the earth element in them on the staircase wall. Under the stairs is a coat closet and storage space. I put a piece of yellow construction paper with my health affirmations written on it in there and I keep it organized.

Simple Carbohydrates are WAY More Dangerous Than We Thought by Paula Stone
For years in my own writings and my own kitchen I have avoided eating a lot of sugar, white flour and other things that go to sugar in the blood stream quickly.
The main reason I avoided these things is that they are not precisely “food”.
They have little or no nutritional value.
And I can’t see much point in buying or eating something that has no nutritional value.
But I learned today in an article in the current issue of Scientific American magazine that there are bigger problems than a lack of nutrition in all foods with a high glycemic index.
An article by Melinda Wenner Moyer states that in the 30 years during which the government has been recommending that people reduce their intake of saturated fat to help prevent heart disease
1. Obesity has more than doubled.
2. Diabetes has tripled.
3. Heart disease is still the country’s biggest killer.
She goes on to say that, “Processed carbohydrates, which many Americans eat today in place of fat, may increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease more than fat does—a finding that has serious implications for new dietary guidelines expected this year.”
The article further states that “some studies done by Meir Stampfer, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health indicate that carbohydrates may be worse than saturated fats in their connection to obesity, diabetes and heart disease.”
In one of his studies, “Although subjects on the low-carb diet ate the most saturated fat, they ended up with the healthiest ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol and lost twice as much weight as their low fat eating counterparts.”
He also did studies that showed that women have worse problems with weight, diabetes and coronary artery disease if they consumed higher amounts of high glycemic-index foods.
I think it appears sugar definitely seems to be making them fat and sick.
I worked as a social worker for over 9 years after I got out of college. Many of my clients were diabetics and they were often the sickest of all my clients, too.
Their horrifying health issues were all the incentive I needed to start avoiding sugar.
I have always maintained that eating sugar and refined grains is going to impact the body negatively.
But the sugar lobby in Washington works hard to protect their markets. They know these foods are not healthy, but they have a big financial stake in continuing to sell these products. They also have plenty of influence.
Fast foods and convenience foods are full of this stuff and really low in nutrients.
But you have control of your grocery cart and your kitchen. Protect yourself. Skip the white stuff like refined flour and sugar. Cook at home using real food with real nutrients.
Human bodies were not designed to process a lot of sugar and other high glycemic-index foods safely.
In fact sugar is not a necessary nutrient.
So-called “high glycemic” foods are just wrong and unnatural, essentially useless in any diet so stick with healthier more nutrient rich foods to kick up your health along with drop those excess pounds.

The New Elderly - - - Young Overweight People Who Are Getting What Used to be Age Related Illnesses Early by Paula Stone
It’s starting to snowball. The results of fast food, convenience foods are starting to show up in public health.
The US military said the 27% of high school graduates are too fat to serve in the military. They blamed school lunches.
18-year-old kids are already significantly disabled. It’s not just the weight. It’s what it’s doing to their bodies.
People who are heavy not only have a weight problem. They also have coronary artery disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and other illnesses.
And they are getting these illnesses younger and younger.
The damage is cumulative and inexorably relentless.
Not only will these people have shortened lives…sometimes 10 to 20 years…they will also be ill for a long time before they die.
Of course they might go quickly of a heart attack or stroke, but many don’t.
Diabetics with poor circulation often lose pieces of their bodies, first developing gangrene and then having to have amputations.
It’s frightening. But it is also preventable.
You don’t have to sit back and let it happen.
And don’t worry about dieting.
Here are a few effective strategies to help you even if you are already sick.
1. Stop eating fast food. Don’t even go to those places.
2. Don’t eat convenience foods from the grocer either. That stuff is full of fat and salt and sugar that you don’t need.
3. Don’t drink soft drinks that have sugar or high fructose corn syrup. Avoid sugar entirely. Your body does not need any of it.
4. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, preferably raw.
5. Eat only whole grains. White flour and potatoes have very few nutrients and are not worth eating.
6. Eat good lean protein and not much fat.
7. Cook at home.
8. Take some vitamins. If you have been eating a lot of fast food or convenience foods you are probably starved for nutrients. Good health requires good nutrition.
9. As you lose weight try to get some exercise. You doctor needs to be involved with this. If you have been ill you need to be careful.
You may feel better than you have felt in years. And please notice that this is not a temporary diet. It’s a permanent change. You are going for something completely new and different and healthy.
Don’t get old before your time. Change for the better. It could save your life.

The Sleeping Solutions That Finally Helped My Family by Mary Woodard
My husband has had a problem with snoring as long as I can remember. Funny, but it never really bothered me until I hit my 30s. When I was in my 20s I could sleep through virtually anything. When my 30s came around I was suddenly a very finicky sleeper. After I had my first child, things changed. I was so concerned about the baby’s sleeping schedule, I was suddenly very sensitive to noise. Yes, then and only then did I realize my husband has a problem with snoring—and I needed sleeping solutions!
Of course, broaching the subject with your partner is not easy. My husband didn’t see the importance of it and even suggested that I was being unreasonable. He is asleep throughout the problem! How can he be expected to understand the position that I’m in having to listen to his cackling and wheezing every minute of every night? Eventually, he agreed to get help. Sadly, none of the sleeping solutions I found online or over the counter worked. He would just feel sick after taking this garbage and I would feel bad about the whole ordeal.
We tried the whole “sleep on your side and plug your nose” home remedy. The snoring still came back. I can’t lie and say that a good night’s sleep was more important than my marriage. However, I did not truly have a “happy marriage” when this problem was occurring. How could I? I hardly slept, and was worried for him. Sometimes he sounded like he was gagging to death! Luckily, I found sleeping solutions that really worked.
The sleeping solution that finally worked was not a medical product nor a $300 electronic device. Rather, it was a series of exercises that my husband could learn. They were easy to do and were said to be helpful to the throat muscles. As the product’s sponsor explained, the main problem with snoring is that there is an obstruction in the passageway that prevents you from breathing normally. This can be caused by a variety of reasons, from fat buildup near the through to alcohol or cigarettes, to just the way you are positioned in bed.
The real cure, I found out, was to strengthen your throat muscles so you can train yourself to breath correctly even if there is a brief obstruction. Sleeping solutions by way of exercise is the best treatment to stop snoring the healthy way. You have nothing to lose! Believe me, I was all out of options when I first discovered these breathing exercises. My husband was willing to try them just so he could stop taking OTC medicines.
We are both glad that we tried one more solution because the exercise worked! Now my family—my husband, my two children, and myself—sleep wonderfully every night. You never really appreciate a good night’s sleep until you are unable to fall asleep for days on end! I hope that you will try the exercise series you can find at http://snoringsolutionsinfo.com that finally helped silence the snoring in my house.

Emwave Personal Stress by Michael Logan
Does emwave cause personal stress? The answer is no. The emwave is the name for a powerful heart rate variability biofeedback stress reliever, based on research on the heart's own sophisticated nervous system.
I have been using this technology personally and professionally since 2000.
I was doing EEG biofeedback in the late '90s and participating in a list serve for EEG brainwave biofeedback providers maintained by EEG Spectrum when I first heard of the emWave technology.
Some of the EEG folks were raving about heart rate variability biofeedback and its impact on their clients, and since I am always searching for new tools for myself, I decided to check into it.
I discovered that a hospital nearby, in St. Charles, Illinois was providing heart rate variability biofeedback trainings to the general public, and their entire staff had trained on the this tool.
I was impressed that that this one tool was the stress relief tool of choice for an entire hospital, so I took the training, and got to do the heart rate variability biofeedback process in front of the entire workshop, and found that the tool was easy to use, and understand.
I bought it and began to bring it into my anger management and domestic violence programs. In fact, I would ask clients to use the tool during group, hooked up to a computer in the middle of the room, and the conversation swirling about them, and that process provided an extraordinary model for how stress happens to us, what causes it, and what the antidote is.
Many of my clients would ask before we even hooked them up to the finger sensor, if this was a lie detector, which provided me a perfect opportunity to teach about the feelings that flow from a thought.
This program does provide a 'coach' in the program that teaches the individual who is hooked up about how to breathe and use the Quick Coherence Technique, and using the program in the midst of a swirling and sometimes contentious group environment provides a vivid learning opportunity for how stress can occur and what we need to do to provide an antidote, and the feedback from the machine gives clients a picture of how fast the body switches from a coherent heart beat to an incoherent heart beat.
Folks get an opportunity to look at how they respond to nonverbal cues in the conversation around them, tone or loudness for example.
Seeing that response on a computer screen even as they sit quietly is a real eye opener for most clients, who usually report that they do not feel stress about some other persons story. Not true.
Other clients would sit at the machine and be able to generate significant heart rate variability coherence even as the noise of group swirled about them.
Those folks were then charged with doing the same thing at home when other people were charged with emotion because one quiet heart in a household can eventually bring all the other hearts into coherence.
But that is not always such an easy thing to do at home, so that kind of effort will take some practice, perhaps with your mate.
I have demonstrated to couples with the heart rate variability biofeedback tool that the relationship has a heart beat of its own, which is certainly impacted by personal stress.
I teach the partners how to make their own hearts coherent, sitting at computers placed side by side, then hold hands and watch each others heart rate variability coherence scores.
There will be periods when both hearts have established coherence, and I will ask how they feel, and both will say words like content, relaxed, happy, grateful, and usually those feelings follow thoughts of gratitude for something about their partner that they like.
I then ask them if they can repeat this process on a schedule, just have gratitude thoughts for their partner?
Most say yes, and are usually relieved when I tell them they can schedule thoughts of resentment also.
But the key is to schedule those thoughts, either resentment or appreciation. Then they have to decide which thought they prefer and do more of those, remembering that their will be consequences for either the resentment thoughts or the appreciation thoughts.
Schedule resentment and go for five minutes and that is all?
You schedule your workouts, your meditations, your meals, why not your resentments?
Your heart rate variability biofeedback personal stress reliever will give you the freedom to do that scheduling.

Technology And Healthcare Jobs In The 21st Century by Kathryn Dawson
Opportunities in the nursing field for persons with specialized skills in information technology abound in the 21st century. Healthcare professionals understand that technology is now a key part of every medical field, and no more so than in the field of nursing. While traditional nursing duties were mainly centered around patient care, in the modern healthcare environment nurses are expected to participate in record-keeping, data entry, and communications technology. Any nurse will tell you that they are the integral hub between doctors, administrators and patients, and need access to all the files and information required to keep each party up-to-date with the latest medical information in order to keep the hospital or healthcare office running smoothly.
While most medical offices use standardized software such as Microsoft Office, more and more applications are being developed specifically for medical office use requiring healthcare professionals, particularly nurses to obtain special training in order to function effectively in their jobs. Nursing schools have begun training prospective nurses in these applications, knowing full well that it increases the number of job options for their graduates. Though it is not only nurses affected - there are a multiplicity of jobs in hospital administration that requires software ability and knowledge. Business schools as well are keen to assure that graduates with degrees in hospital administration are up-to-date in the latest technological advancements so they will be able to do their jobs effectively.
It seems as though every area of medicine is advancing in a technologically forward manner. Surgeons use telepresence to operate on patients halfway around the world, ambulance drivers rely heavily on GPS navigation, doctors receive the latest updates on disease and treatment studies over the Internet and even patients now have unprecedented access to information about not only their condition, but treatment options, and detailed information about the various healthcare providers they're welcome to choose from.
Of course technological innovation is nothing new to the medical field. Medicine has always been at the forefront of new technology development. The modern age would hardly be possible without the discovery of nuclear radiation by two doctors, but it's medicine's accessibility and enthusiasm for exploring new developments in almost any science field in the search of new diagnostic and treatment tools that allows medicine and technology to blend so well, and to such great benefit.
The latest technology from Apple Computer, the iPad, is the latest of such technological developments and has been tested at hospitals around the United States with an eye towards making the tablet computer and indispensable piece of medical hardware at an affordable price. Numerous medical and healthcare applications have been developed for the device and the initial response from medical personnel who have used it in the field is overwhelmingly positive. The ability to carry so much information in a small package that is easily and instantly updatable through wireless networks is bound to revolutionize the way health jobs are done in the future.
Whether it's the MRI scanner, the iPad computer, GPS navigation or surgery by telepresence it seems inevitable that as technology advances medicine will advance along with it. We can only speculate what changes medicine will see in the next hundred years as technology rapidly advances while the cost of such innovation rapidly declines. What is sure however is that there will always be a place for the healthcare worker, the doctor and the medical administrator to bridge the gap between patients and the ever-expanding field of highly complex medical technology. These jobs, as we've seen in the latest economic downturn, will remain valuable and desirable throughout any social or economic climate.

Weight Loss Success May Come From Planning Ahead by John Weyenberg
As you undertake a weight loss plan, it is important that the following suggestions be given careful consideration. If you fail to pay attention to these, then simply acting on a weight loss plan may not provide you with the success that you desire.
1. What is your weight loss goal?
2. What have you done to prepare yourself for attaining your goal?
3. Have you included a fitness plan in your goal?
4. How will you maintain your desired weight once your goal is achieved?
5. Are you prepared to change your eating habits?
So, just what is your goal? Have you defined it? You want to lose weight. But, how much? Don't set a goal that is totally unrealistic. If you are looking to lose 50 to 100 pounds, then set intermediate goals for yourself...something like 5-10 pounds a month. This is easily achievable if you exercise self-restraint with your diet and you start off with a detox/cleanse. Ridding your body of the various toxins is critical to your ultimate goal. If you set goals that can be achieved, then your opportunity to achieve success is increased dramatically. If you set a goal that is unrealistic, then you have just set yourself up for failure.
How have you prepared yourself for this goal? Do you have planned exits for those situations that arise where you will be tempted to forgo your diet? This is very important. By planning ahead and thinking of alternate responses to overeating or eating the wrong foods, then you will have improved you chances of success. Too often we just plunge right in and get sidetracked because we haven't planned alternatives for these tempting events. THESE EVENTS WILL HAPPEN! WHAT WILL YOU DO TO EITHER AVOID THEM OR TO FIND YOUR WAY OUT OF THEM? Successful weight loss requires mental preparation!
Have you included a fitness plan into your weight loss goal? If you have not, then you really should consider finding a fitness plan. Weight loss and fitness are not mutually exclusive. I do not believe that you can have one without the other. You need to exercise to help in the elimination of excess weight. This will help you later as you achieve your weight loss goals because maintaining fitness will help you to avoid putting those pounds right back on.
Once you achieve your goal, how will you maintain your weight? Fitness is one way, certainly. But you also need to consider that keeping the weight off may mean that you will have to change your diet for good! If you go back to the same eating habits that helped you gain the weight, then you will most likely put that weight right back on. And you will have worked too hard to let this happen.
So, mentally prepare yourself to change your eating habits, to make exercise a permanent part of your lifestyle, and enjoy the body that you desire. You can do it! Self-Renewal is key!!!

Rapid Weight Loss Through Detox by John Weyenberg
"Detox" is a process of detoxifying your body. In essence, you will be ridding your body of unwanted and harmful toxins. This process is also referred to as a 'cleanse' or a 'colon cleanse'. It is something we should do annually.
Most detox or cleanse diets are water-based, meaning that you can drink as much water as you desire for a specified period (usually 5-10 days). Some allow you to put lemon juice into the water to aid the process. And some allow for some citrus fruit. But just about all of them stress the need to start with a fast.
Here is my detox regimen. I use a water fast for the first 24-48 hours. Personally, I have trouble going without and food for much longer than that. On the third day, I begin to eat grapefruit for my meals. One grapefruit per meal. This helps me to get over the 'starving' feeling and also allow me to get the energy I need to continue exercising. I know many people that can do a water fast for a lot longer than me and they all claim to have enough energy to remain active. Most will begin to add a little lemon juice to their water after 48 hours. I just haven't been able to go that long without feeling that I was going to die if I didn't eat something. So the grapefruit has worked well for me. The acids in citrus fruit help the elimination process. And this is what you want. You are eliminating the toxins in your colon. I continue my water/grapefruit cleanse for 5-10 days. I try and go as long as I can knowing that additional days will produce a better cleanse. But I never go past 10 days and most people don't either.
There are many supplements out there that will do a very good job of helping you detox. And even some of these allow you to eat a somewhat regular diet during the process. I recommend this method if you find the thought of existing on water and grapefruit for 5-10 days to be too tedious.
Once you have completed your personal detox/cleanse diet, it is important that you do not start feasting right away. It is best to introduce foods back into your system in a controlled manner. A normal course of action is to eat another type of fruit that first day off the cleanse. Then you can slowly introduce vegetables back into your diet, perhaps in the form of a salad on the second day. I stick with two or three days of nothing but fruit and vegetables before I begin to have 'meals' again. And that's it. Following this will rid your body of the unwanted toxins in your system and allow you to lose weight in the process!

Lose Weight by Eating More Often by John Weyenberg
Any good weight loss plan should include a healthy amount of fitness training. If it doesn’t, then your chances of keeping the pounds from coming back are greatly diminished. With most diets and weight loss plans, you run the risk of dehydrating your body. While you may lose the weight initially, once you have ‘finished’ and begin to eat and drink the way you are used to, then you will naturally hydrate your body again. This usually means putting on the weight you worked so hard to eliminate.
Our bodies are made up of over 70% water. When we dehydrate our bodies, we will lose weight. But once our bodies become hydrated again weight comes right back. This leads to the huge frustrations that afflict many adults as they go from one diet to another. Most are able to lose some weight. But when they go back to their old eating habits (and they usually do), then they begin to see the pounds creep into their bodies again.
Managing your weight loss through exercise is the best alternative to this dilemma. When choosing a weight loss plan, exercise is a critical component. What one should want to achieve is a better ratio of lean muscle to fat. We want to burn the fat so it doesn’t come back, right? So why wouldn’t you include a fitness plan in your weight loss goals. Muscle weighs more than fat. So the ‘weight’ may not come off as quickly, but as you become more fit, you will be toning and building muscle. This way you will lose inches!. You will begin to attain the look and feel that you desire more readily through this approach.
The trick to making this work is not to starve yourself. Many programs require a certain amount of calorie reduction at first. This is quite difficult, especially when considering that you may not be used to exercising. As you exercise and tone and build muscle, your appetite will increase. So eat more often! You will still need to watch your intake of calories, but it is much easier on your body if you increase the number of times you eat without increasing the calorie content. Eat until you are not hungry. Do not eat until you are full.
This can be achieved quite easily. Consider eating five times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can remain pretty much the same. But in order to not get discouraged and be able to lose that starving feeling, you really should eat a healthy snack in between breakfast and lunch and in between lunch and dinner. The easiest way to do this is don’t put one third of your calories in any one meal. Save a little for your snack time. This will help to eliminate that starving feeling. This way, you can eat more often. And you should not stop hydrating your body. Your body needs water to survive.
Simply arrange the proper calorie intake over the course of three meals and two snacks each day. Exercise at least four times a week. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. You may not lose the weight as quickly, but you will be getting a more toned look. And remember, muscle weighs more than fat. So don’t get discouraged. Your new body proportions will appeal to you just as much, if not more!

Nutrition and Seniors, It Can Be Difficult To Accomplish But It’s Critical by Paula Stone
Many seniors may no longer be able to cook. Or they just don’t feel like cooking and eating alone. Seniors sometimes need help finding solutions for this important issue as they become less able to manage on their own. It’s possible for families and seniors to cooperate with each other to make sure seniors’ dietary needs are being met following our 7 suggestions.
1. As seniors become more disabled they can have home health agencies come in and do some cooking and cleaning if the seniors have insurance or income that will pay for this service.
2. Families and friends who live nearby can include seniors in meals they fix for their families.
3. Or a senior family member might live with a son or daughter’s family.
4. Families can prepare meals that are frozen, but easy for a senior to heat and eat.
5. A senior might choose some type of elder care where meals are provided, especially if they are unable to drive and shop for themselves.
6. Or an older person who is significantly disabled might need full time skilled nursing care like in a nursing home. When seniors are unable to feed themselves this might be a necessary option especially if most family members work full time and are not available to give them the care they need.
7. A senior might get together with friends who can live together and help each other when needed. This is an option for people who are single or have no children to help them.
It’s really important to address seniors’ dietary needs effectively. Poor nutrition can make anyone less able to manage independently. A good diet that fulfills seniors’ dietary needs can also help them stay healthy and independent longer.

The Food Timeline And Your Health by Paula Stone
A lot of people who struggle with their weight and have cravings they can’t control are really starving for nutrients, minerals, and plant enzymes they are not getting from food.
According to many doctors all of us are supposed to get most of the nutrients we need from the food we eat. They also maintain that taking vitamins and supplements is unnecessary for good health.
Which sounds plausible until you discover that doctors don’t study nutrition. Some take one class in all their years of medical school. Most don’t take any classes in nutrition.
But then in my own studies about nutrition and healthy eating I discovered some things that we all need to know.
Distance, cultivation and processing all take nutrients from the food you eat.
I learned something at a class at my local county agricultural extension office that that really shocked me. Did you know that fruits and vegetables lose about Ð… of their vitamins and plant enzymes within just 6 hours after they are picked?
In fact people who are unaccustomed to fresh fruits and vegetables will get upset stomachs from plant enzymes until their bodies adjust.
Much of what Americans eat travels many thousands of miles, often Ð… way around the world before it gets to your grocer.
But there is another aspect to good nutrition.
We need minerals for good health, too.
Most farmers put 3 types of fertilizer (minerals) on plants, phosphorous, nitrogen and potassium.
Plants actually need 16 different minerals for healthy growth according to the North Carolina Master Gardener Training Manual.
But soils that have been cultivated for many years have been gradually depleted of essential minerals that are now missing from food. Foods actually had more minerals 30 years ago than they do now.
The next part of good nutrition is processing. Each process foods go through takes out nutrients. Canned foods are cooked before canning and then cooked again before they get to your table. Each time you cook a fruit or vegetable you lose more nutrients.
Foods that are refined like sugar and white flour have all the fiber and most of the nutrients removed. I don’t even bother to eat them.
Some foods are irradiated to kill germs. No vitamins or plant enzymes survive the process. Fats, minerals and protein survive but in an altered state that may or may not be safe to eat.
Many fast food and convenience meals have very few nutrients and only fill your stomach.
If you want to get good nutrition you really only have three alternatives.
1. You can grow some of your own food.
2. You can buy food from local growers that you find through your local county extension office.
3. You can take some good supplements at times when you can’t get fresh, local foods.
Ironically, many people who are overweight and unhealthy are also technically starving for nutrients. Look around and find better food.

Top Secret Nutrition Tips For Losing Body Fat by Robert D. Franklin
I'm sure you'd agree that there has never been a more confusing time regarding proper nutrition for consumers. Every so called "expert" out there seems to disagree and contradict each other on what's the best way to eat for fat loss and overall good health.
One of the most important messages is that in this world of heavy confusion, your diet doesn't need to conform to any of the fad diets... you don't need to go "low carb" or "low fat", to be successful in losing enough body fat to get lean enough to be able to see your abs.
Let's try to simplify things. Balance is the key to success along with eating foods made up of nutrient dense foods in their natural state (as unprocessed as possible).
Generally, it is the heavy processing of foods that makes it wreak havoc within our bodies. Most foods in their natural unprocessed state are inherently good for us. Of course there are always exceptions.
A couple of other most important aspects of nutrition to help you get lean for life...
1. Get enough quality protein in the daily diet - not only does it have a higher thermic effect than carbs and fat (so you burn more calories digesting it), but it also creates satisfaction to your hunger longer. It's also a building block for maintaining and building lean muscle. Remember that the amount of lean muscle you carry is one of the main factors for controlling your metabolism.
2. Think fiber! When it comes to carbs, make sure that almost all of your carbohydrate intake is from higher fiber sources like vegetables, fruits, and high fiber unrefined grains. Avoid refined sugars and refined grains because it's one of the main reasons so many people struggle with body fat.
Most of my carbs are from veggies and fruits, but included in that would be sprouted grains. I recommend looking for carbohydrate sources that have at least 2-3 grams of fiber per each 10 grams of total carbs. Fiber helps you fill up and also slows down the glycemic response of the foods you eat, a key trigger for getting super lean.
3. Don't be afraid to eat fat! Many people try to go way too low on their fat intake and this can negatively affect hormone levels in your body as well as causing more cravings. Try to eat enough healthy fats daily.
Good sources are all nuts and seeds, nut butters, avocados, olive oil, organic meats and eggs, coconuts and virgin coconut oil. On that note, saturated fats from tropical oils are VERY misunderstood, even by many nutritionists and other health professionals. Yes they are composed highly of saturated fats, but are actually beneficial (but that's way beyond the scope of this article).
4. Avoid the two worst things in our food supply at ALL COSTS:
*artificial trans fats from margarines, shortening, and hydrogenated oils that are in most processed foods
*high fructose corn syrup, which is in almost all sweetened products on the market
Again, if you avoid processed foods, it becomes easy to avoid these two worst offenders in our food supply.
Once you get a handle on these 4 main points above in your nutrition plan, the rest starts to take care of itself while you take control over your appetite, blood sugar levels, hormone levels, etc. It all falls into place, and you eventually gain total control over how lean you want to get.

Are Potatoes and Other by Robert D. Franklin
The fitness industry certainly agrees that white bread and refined white sugar are two of the worst things we can put in our bodies. But I highly disagree with avoiding any and all "white carbohydrates".
"White Foods" aren't necessarily always the enemy.
It's true that colorful foods are great, but it is a big mistake to specifically avoid white foods all together. There are plenty of white foods that have specific nutrients that are difficult to find elsewhere. Here are a few examples...
Onions & Garlic
These are both white and they are chock full of protective phytonutrients, vitamins, and trace minerals that aren't easy to find elsewhere in a normal diet... such nutrients as allicin, quercetin (an important flavonoid), chromium, and other unique anti-inflammatory nutrients.
Cauliflower
Yet another example of something white that is great for you. Loaded with vitamin C, fiber, minerals, and special compounds like glucosinolates and thiocyanates, these are specifically abundant in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. A side tidbit fact is that some of the compounds in cruciferous vegetables help combat other estrogenic compounds in our food supply and environment and can help prevent excess belly fat. So, go ahead and load up on cauliflower!
Mushrooms
Surprisingly, white mushrooms have high levels of unique nutrients and antioxidants that not many people realize. White mushrooms are high in a couple types of antioxidants called polyphenols and ergothioneine.
Potatoes
Now that also leads us to another example - white potatoes (which by the way, can also be found in red, yellow, purple varieties, etc). Many health professionals claim that potatoes are a bad carbohydrate because they are thought to have a high glycemic index. First of all, if you've read my Truth about Six Pack Abs book, then you understand that glycemic index is not necessarily the most important factor in choosing your carbohydrates.
While a generalization can be made that most low glycemic index carbohydrate choices will help you lose body fat easier than high glycemic index choices, it is not all that it's cracked up to be. There are many other factors that determine how your body will react-to and process the carbohydrates you ingest, such as glycemic load and also how you combine the high GI food with other foods.
Watermelon is also a great source of vitamins, minerals, and lycopene. There's just no reason to avoid it simply because it has a high GI. The main idea is candy bars, cupcakes, and donuts make you fat, NOT watermelons, carrots or potatoes.
Food combinations are important in how your body processes the carbohydrates and the associated blood sugar and insulin response you receive. Let's say, if you mix a high glycemic index carbohydrate with an extra source of fiber, healthy fats, or even certain proteins, many times the blood sugar and glycemic response will be slowed down considerably by the way you combined the food.
Please don't ruin potatoes by deep frying them into french fries either! French fries are one of the most evil things ever invented for your health, but only because we kill them by soaking them in the hydrogenated oils typically used.
Keep in mind that potatoes contain so many vitamins and minerals that the list is way too long. By the way, when you eat the skins, you get a decent shot of fiber too.

Herbal Remedies for Anxiety by Michael Logan
Taking medication isn't for everyone and if you're the type of person who doesn't like to take medication, you should be aware that there are herbal remedies for anxiety. No one is immune to the mental and physical trouble that anxiety can bring on but none of us have to put up with living that way. The longer that the anxiety goes on without treatment, the worse the physical symptoms can become. See if you recognize the following side effects of having anxiety.
Fast, rapid breathing is one side effect, heart feeling like it's beating too fast is another. Feeling an almost overwhelming sense of doom is how some sufferers describe what they're going through while battle a tense, nauseated tightness in the pit of the stomach.
Tense muscles and having trouble paying attention and focusing on even simple tasks are some of the problems that anxiety can cause. You can have all the symptoms or a few and they can come when a trigger that flips the anxious feelings is tripped.
There are many health problems that can cause anxiety so before you assume that yours is normal anxiety, go see your doctor. Health problems that can make anxiety develop are trouble with the heart-an undiagnosed heart condition or disorder, anemia, diabetes and problems with the thyroid gland. Once you've been checked and ruled those out, then you can take herbal remedies for anxiety and find successful treatment.
For hundreds of years, herbs have been used to help heal a variety of ailments. While many over the counter and prescription drugs have dangerous side effects, when used the right way, herbs can be safely ingested.
If you're not sure which herb to use for anxiety or how much of it to use, seek the guidance of a doctor who specializes in alternative medicine. You'll find numerous doctors who practice naturopathic medicine and you can look them up under holistic practitioners too.
Anxiety and stress are bonded together much like a circle of metal. You can't see where one part ends and the other begins. Stress is not bad as long as it's not overpowering. Some stress that can be helpful for you is the stress of a project deadline. It keeps you steadily working toward meeting that goal and that's not a bad stress to feel. But relentless stress can be counterproductive.
Herbal remedies for anxiety can relieve you not only of the anxiety but also of the stress you might be feeling. Herbals can help you to relax and put you in a better frame of mind as you seek to find the underlying reason that's causing the trouble.
Biofeedback is another very powerful tool to have in your anti-anxiety tool box. Biofeedback technology has grown more and more sophisticated in the last 30 years, and it is possible now to train both brain waves and heart rate variability using computerized programs.
Biofeedback is learned, so it is much more permanent than binaural beat tones for example, or visualizations.
I have been using the emWave heart rate variability biofeedback tool personally and professionally for quite some time, and I think it is an excellent tool to use with herbal remedies like green tea, with l-theanine.
When I first bought the heart rate variability biofeedback tool, I had no idea how long it would take for me to learn how to use it.
Turns out it took 6 one-half hour practices for me to feel confident that I could induce the relaxation (and is it relaxing) physiology without being hooked up to the computer. In other words, whenever I feel stress or anxiety, I can use my cue thought and breathing tools, and feel the relaxation replace the stress and anxiety.
The important thing to remember is that I need to continue to pay attention to the eustress/distress continuum and adjust my breathing and thinking tools regularly, sort of like how I steer a car, with many tiny adjustments.
In the background of your thinking, you might remind yourself often that too much adrenaline and cortisol inhibits your brain's ability to grow new brain cells daily, which is called neurogenesis.
As far as I am concerned, bigger is better when it comes to brains, so I will learn to pay attention to my thinking and feeling, and I will use herbal remedies for anxiety, like green tea, which is also full of antioxidants, another important part of the brain fitness continuum.
So remember, you can impact anxiety with herbs used as directed, and they are really effective when included in a brain fitness lifestyle. Here is to a bigger brain.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Anxiety by Michael Logan
Cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety is therapy to break the cycle of wrong thinking. It gives a person back control, educates and changes the way certain patterns or way of life have been lived.
From childhood or through traumatic events, we learn a set of coping skills that can become coping mechanisms. This type of treatment has been shown to be very effecting in treating anxiety and helping patients understand why they do what they do and how to change it.
When a person feels fear, the body will react as if that fear was real. So if you feared that wind whipping through the trees would make them crash down around you, your body would release adrenaline in response to that fear.
Now if you were actually in danger, that adrenaline could give you a burst of energy that could make you flee from the harm in order to protect yourself. That's a healthy response. An unhealthy response is living in anxiety because of what does not take place. For example, you fear getting fired. It hasn't happened, but you worry about it. Not an every now and then worry but an all the time worry.
You fear that you're going to have an accident on the way to work. You fear that something might happen to your children, to your parents, to your spouse. You fear that your house might burn down or you might lose all your savings. Everyone has passing thoughts where a twinge of worry or anxiety will occur.
That's just living life in the world we live in. But when the thoughts don't pass by, when they stick around in our minds and we play them over again like a broken record, that signals a problem. Cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety helps the mind to stop playing that broken record and helps sufferers to move beyond the place they're stuck.
Therapy and education about anxiety and understanding why some thoughts create an action and trigger a response can lead to freedom. The negative self talk can be changed into positive self talk. If you take the time to examine some of the thoughts you have, you might even see how you play the same tracks you were taught growing up or by a traumatic event.
We all have a belief system but not all the things we believe are actually true. We can change what is good and what is right and jumble it up in our minds with beliefs that are harmful and wrong. Let's say that you have a fear of snakes because you stepped on one as a child and it bit you.
You have an opportunity to visit an aquarium but don't go because you're worried that the snakes might get out of their cages and you'll get bitten. Even thinking about getting bitten again makes you feel like you're going to faint. Your heart starts pounding and your head begins to ache.
This is a physical response to the fear of what could have happened but hasn't. Cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety can help people overcome the anxiety that keeps them living in fear.
In this example, I think it is important to remember that I am disputing my thoughts to feel better where I am, since I am not at the zoo, or near any snakes.
And by the way, fear of snakes is a very primal fear for us humans, going way down into the older parts of our brain.
In my anger management counseling, I often ask clients to tell me the story of what happened the night they got arrested, and often many of the emotions associated with that event will come back, and I will interrupt them to ask them how they are feeling, and with a bit of prompting most will be able to identify a feeling (mad, glad, fear, sad) and I will ask them if the person, place, or thing being discussed is in the room with us.
The answer is always 'no", so we have an excellent example of how the thought brings the feeling, in this case a memory, which may be an automatic negative thought (ANT'S).
As one recognizes those ANT's, one can step on them, and the picnic can go on.
Dr. Daniel Amen uses the example of ants at a picnic to illustrate how ANT's can become problematic.
He says one or ten ANTS at a picnic will probably not be a problem, but twenty or thirty can ruin the picnic.
So how do you dispute ANTS?
First, one must learn the early warning signs of ANTS, which will be a feeling, certain kinds of words in your thoughts (should, ought, must, have to, for example), or a behavior, and change the thinking or cognition or take a time out.
ANTS can appear in 1/18th second, and the physiology of fear or anger is right with the ANT.
If cognitive behavioral therapy for ANTS seems impossible because of the speed at which your Central Nervous System works, remember you have been successful at your own version of this thousands of times.
But breakdowns can be serious, so learn to substitute thoughts like "Gratitude is the Attitude" for ANTS, and you will begin the process of getting more potato salad at the picnic rather than throwing verbal or physical punches.
If you are looking for an industrial strength tool for cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety, you should look into heart rate variability biofeedback.
Heart rate variability biofeedback is a computerized program that will give you real time feedback about your thinking and how it impacts your body. You can see what thoughts of gratitude and thoughts of victimization do to your heart rate variability coherence and how fast that happens, and train the cognitive antidote to anxiety, by asking the brain in your heart to learn a new skill.
Heart rate variability biofeedback is actually a very quick process to learn, but check out the videos in the following link to get a sense of it.

The Differences of Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, and Sports Massage by Chris Lontok
Clients of Largo massage clinics often mistake a deep tissue massage for a mysofascial release treatment. They also get confused with the difference between a sports massage and a deep tissue massage.
It's not actually a surprise for most massage clinics and spas in Largo (or anywhere) to have confused clients. This is because all 3 massages target the deep tissues and muscles in the body. All three also apply deeper strokes and greater pressure for specific points in the body. The techniques used for these massages are connected with each other, but knowing their differences will help you know what to ask for the next time you decide to set an appointment with your Largo massage clinic.
According to a professional therapist in a Belleair spa, a deep tissue massage is a technique designed to help realign the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. The strokes used in a deep tissue massage are very similar to the ones used for Swedish massage, but pressure and strokes are generally more intense. It specifically focuses on muscles with chronic tension or “knots.” One Largo massage clinic client complained about feeling sore after the treatment, but one shouldn't worry because it's natural. This is because a deep tissue massage uses a lot of friction against the muscle grain to eliminate adhesions. Unblocking adhesions relieve muscles of poor blood circulation and pain. It will also increase the muscle's ability to move. But since the treatment calls for the manipulation of deep muscles, it should only be done by a licensed and professional therapist. You can tell the therapist, at any point in the treatment, if you are feeling too much pain or discomfort from the massage. You can also always ask your therapist of his or her background to make sure you are getting the correct treatment.
A msyofascial release treatment is sometimes mistaken for a deep tissue massage. This is because they target the same areas. Your Largo massage spa will tell you that the myofascial release technique is not for “untying” knotted muscles, but rather, to stretch the fascia to eliminate pain and improve movement. The fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds our muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and blood vessels. The fascia also is our body's second line of defense against pathogenic agents and infections after the skin. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, or by rolling the skin. Massage spas in Belleair, Largo, area 33771, and Indian Rocks Beach commonly offers this type of treatment to their clients.
A sports massages, among the three, is the most personalized type of technique because the treatment will depend on the specific need of the patient. It is, of course, not exclusive for athletes. According to a Largo massage spa, anyone who is physically active can get a sports massage. Today's sports and physical training are demanding more and more from our bodies and the tendency is an increase in controlled overuse of our muscles. A sports massage aims to lessen muscle stress and increase performance. The three main categories of massage that are predominantly used in a sport massage are effleurage, petrissage and frictions. Effleurage is used to introduce contact to the body. It uses long and deep pressure strokes using the palm of the hand and fingers. Petrissage is the kneading and rolling motion, while friction uses the pads of the thumb and fingers to breakdown muscle tension.
Ask your Largo massage spa on which massage you should get. Find the technique that best suits your needs.

Reflexology Massage Therapy from a Therapeutic Massage Spa in Beaverton by Chris Lontok
Like many of the other therapeutic body massage modalities, reflexology massage therapy is not just a way to relax but is in fact a health maintenance therapy and even a natural treatment modality for various conditions. It is used not only in preventing the onset of a wide variety of illnesses but is also effective in addressing and even resolving diseases and their discomforts such as chronic pain. It is to the great advantage of residents of Washington County, Clackamas, Keizer, Lake Oswego, Portland, Tualatin, Sherwood, and Vancouver WA that reflexology massage therapy is easy to avail of from a professional therapeutic body massage spa that likewise provides other therapeutic body massage modalities like Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, sports massage therapy and pregnancy massage therapy in Beaverton.
Reflexology massage therapy has been shown to increase blood circulation and lymph fluid circulation, thereby facilitating detoxification. It also eliminates tension and assists the body’s self healing mode. It has been used effectively in the treatment of migraine, tension headaches, chronic headaches, back pain, arthritis, digestive problems and other diseases.
The roots of reflexology massage therapy have been traced through history to ancient Egypt, China and Japan, with its basic techniques found in Oriental acupressure and acupuncture as well as in other healing modalities in India, Africa, Europe and among the Native American Cherokee tribe. Many of those healing methods still exist today in many variations.
The philosophical tradition backing up reflexology massage therapy believes in the presence of QI which is defined as the invisible life force. This is supposed to flow freely throughout the body for optimum health. If the Qi is hampered or blocked for any reason at any point in the body, this can result in illness and pain. The blockage can be removed by energy released through reflexology massage therapy. Massaging certain reflexology points is said to send energy through paths in an energy grid encompassing the entire body. Once the blockage is eliminated, pain is relieved and healing commences.
Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, who was a surgeon and an eye, ear and throat specialist, developed reflexology massage therapy in 1913. His initial discovery centered on how the application of pressure on certain body parts had an anaesthetic effect on other body parts. His experiments further showed how the application of pressure on certain body parts produced other responses in other body parts. All his findings were documented by Dr. Fitzgerald in his reflexology map. He divided the body into ten vertical zones which had matching reflexology points on the feet and hands. His method was termed zone therapy.
By the 1930s and the 1940s, Dr. Fitzgerald’s zone therapy was further developed into reflexology massage therapy by Eunice D. Ingham who was a nurse and physiotherapist. Ms. Ingham discovered and mapped out reflexology points not only in the hands and feet but also on the ears that correspond to each and every body organ and body part, making treatment even more specific.
Through palpation alone, a trained and experienced massage therapist can identify the possible onset of certain diseases even before the client feels any of its symptoms. Regular reflexology massage therapy can prevent these diseases from actually developing and can address other already existing conditions, as well. You do not even have to believe in the theoretical or philosophical background of reflexology massage therapy in order to benefit from its healing effects. You only have to lie back and enjoy each session much like other sessions of therapeutic body massage modalities such as Swedish massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, sports massage therapy and pregnancy massage therapy. If you are from Washington County, Clackamas, Keizer, Lake Oswego, Portland, Tualatin, Sherwood, and Vancouver WA, go to a reputable professional therapeutic body massage spa in Beaverton.

Sports Massage Therapy Complements Sports and Fitness in Warrington PA by Chris Lontok
It is not easy to start a fitness regimen. It is even more difficult to maintain it. Fitness trainers have observed that many people who embark on such a journey may have started with the best intentions but are forced to drop out after only a few sessions because of muscle soreness. The same is true for would be athletes. Many people stop pursuing a sport after experiencing body pains due to rigorous practice sessions. Sports and fitness do not have to be beyond the reach of many, though. A professional massage therapist can help prepare people for sports and fitness with regular sports massage therapy. People residing in Bucks County, Doylestown, Warminster, Horsham, Willow Grove, Abbington, Ambler, Chalfont, New Hope, Newtown, Richboro, South Hampton and Lansdale can avail of sports massage therapy from professional massage therapists at a reputable therapeutic massage spa that also gives reflexology massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, Swedish massage therapy and pregnancy massage therapy in Warrington PA.
Massage therapy prevents and eases the muscle soreness that comes after indulging in sports or doing a workout. Experts explain that this is the result of lactic acid and other metabolic wastes building up in muscle tissues during rigorous activity. Sports massage therapy safely and effectively flushes out such wastes from the system, thereby lessening soreness, reducing inflammation and preventing the onset of cramps. The increase in blood circulation also increases the flow of oxygen to the muscles, facilitating recovery.
Sports massage therapy improves one’s flexibility, agility and range of movement by stretching, releasing and relaxing the tightened muscles repeatedly. With such preparations, muscles are conditioned to meet the various challenges of sports and fitness regimens. They are therefore less prone to injury and less at risk of sports or fitness related damage. Because of this, one is able to maximize each workout or practice session, making it more efficient and effective.
Of course, sports massage therapy enables the athlete or fitness buff to perform at his or her best with muscles that are well prepared and conditioned for all the right moves. Energy levels are maximized by improved blood flow and increased body oxygenation. Hormones are regulated by massage therapy, erasing nervousness and anxiety to give way to alertness and mental clarity.
Because trainers and sports doctors alike recognize the effectiveness of sports massage therapy, it has been incorporated as a standard feature in many athletic training regimens. Experts recommend that sports massage therapy sessions be done regularly and long term for best results. A massage session should be scheduled no less than once a week. It should also be set three to four days before a sports event or competition, with a short session of 15 to 20 minutes added four hours before the actual activity. After the competition, a 10 to 15 minute recovery massage session should also be scheduled.
Sports and fitness regimens are best complemented by sports massage therapy indeed. Other therapeutic massage modalities can also enhance one’s abilities, performance and lifestyle, though. Deep tissue massage therapy, for example, can dig out and release persistent knots from deep within the muscles, sometimes caused by old scar tissue and adhesions. Reflexology massage therapy, on the other hand, can address specific illnesses or diseases. For pregnant women, specialized pregnancy massage therapy is most appropriate to ease discomfort and prepare the body for childbirth. Anyone who just wants to relax in between workouts or any strenuous or stressful activity can opt for Swedish massage therapy. Sports massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, reflexology massage therapy, pregnancy massage therapy and Swedish massage therapy are all offered by the best therapeutic massage spas in Warrington PA that serve residents of Bucks County, Doylestown, Warminster, Horsham, Willow Grove, Abbington, Ambler, Chalfont, New Hope, Newtown, Richboro, South Hampton and Lansdale.
