How Can You Find Newport Beach Liposuction Center?

How Can You Find Newport Beach Liposuction Center?
 by: Jeff Lakie

Finding the clinic that performs liposuctions in Newport Beach is quite easy. All Newport Beach liposuction clinics have their websites, so it's a good idea to start looking for them on the Net. Then continue the survey by visiting them personally and seeing how the clinics look like. But you must understand a few things before you start searching Newport Beach. Liposuction has its limits and you have to know them before you decide to have it.
What is liposuction?
Technically speaking, it is a process of removing fat from certain parts of your body. Fat is removed by inserting a small tube through tiny incisions close to the area to be suctioned. Incisions are very small, often only a few millimeters long, but it is surely a surgery, not cosmetics. It isn't an alternative to a diet as liposuction is used only as a tool to shape your body, not to make it thinner. Even at the best plastic surgery clinic in Newport Beach, liposuction will not help you in changing your appearance drastically. It can remove a spare tire, but not ten of them.
What can be achieved by liposuction?
When you find an appropriate clinic in Newport Beach for your liposuction, make sure you're realistic in your expectations. If you want to look good, you're fit and healthy, but you just can get rid of the fat that occupies one specific area of your body, the liposuction might be the solution to this problem. It can help you in shaping your body, and in cosmetic changes of your figure. The change is stable, but there is no Newport Beach liposuction center that will insure that the fat will not return if you gain weight again. If you gain more fat, it has to go somewhere - not necessarily to the same area as before, but the fat will show up somewhere anyway.
Is there a Newport Beach liposuction center that is the best?
The answer is simple: no. There are at least dozen professional plastic surgery clinics there and most of them specialize in liposuction, but there is no clear leader there. You have to compare the prices and decide yourself which one is the best.

Alcohol Drug Abuse Treatment Reaching Out For Help

Alcohol Drug Abuse Treatment Reaching Out For Help
 by: Jeff Lakie

There was a time when alcohol and drug abuse were thought to be problems of down and outs, no-hopers who had nothing in their lives, and people who would never amount to anything. Thankfully, an increasing awareness about these issues and the sharing of their stories by some brave individuals have led us to become less judgmental of those who find compelled to see alcohol drug abuse treatment. Because these addictions say nothing about the person we are - unfortunately, almost anyone can fall prey to these problems. And seeking help should not be something that is avoided due to social stigma, regardless of whether it is real or imagined, because standing up and asking for alcohol drug abuse treatment is one of the bravest acts of hope and self belief there is.
In our modern world it is sometimes all too easy to expect to feel good in an instant. Many of us have fallen into the trap of the while-you-wait culture that urges us to escape negative feelings through indulging an any number of quick fix feel good pseudo-solutions rather than facing up to our demons and waging honest war with them. While feeling good is something well worth aspiring to, obscuring our negative feelings and pretending we feel good is not. These negative feelings will always find us eventually; no matter how long we manage to stall them by masking our pain with quick adrenaline rushes.
Though so many of us choose drugs or alcohol as our escapism of choice, there remains for many addicts an underlying guilt, a shame that the harder, but more rewarding path, was not taken. Quick fixes feel good, but there is a far more enduring happiness and satisfaction that arises from working through your problems. Many addicts fear asking for help because they believe they don't deserve it - the poor self-esteem they masked by choosing addiction has been eroded further by that same choice. Reaching out for help in the form of alcohol drug abuse treatment is a hugely self-affirming step, and it is an act of bravery and hope that indicates enormous personal strength. Seeking treatment is never a failure, but rather is the first in a long line of victories.

Where To Find Maryland Drug Rehab Centers?

Where To Find Maryland Drug Rehab Centers?
 by: Jeff Lakie

Everything can be found on the Internet. At various sites there's a comprehensive list of all Maryland drug rehab centers along with contact information and short advertising articles. There are lots of various treatment centers in this State, and from their commercials it seems most of them are well-situated and well-equipped. But it's not a rehab center that counts most. It's the choice of therapist. An addict can get into the best Maryland drug rehab center and still had to spend some very hard time if you don't know how to choose the right therapist.
Choosing the therapist
As for the professionalism, there are three things that count most. The first is, of course, some academic degree (MA, MS, MSW, PhD, PsyD, MD etc.). The second is experience - completion of some extensive psychotherapy course is absolutely must. The third might be somewhat hard-to-touch. An addict has to accept him. They can't force themselves into cooperation with somebody they don't accept.
Choosing the right therapist might be difficult. It's not because of them, but because of addicts' psychological problems - when addicts accept the treatment, they sometimes try to force themselves to everything, as if they were punishing themselves for being addicts. It's not a good way - Maryland drug rehab centers employ a lot of good therapist, so the choice shouldn't be so difficult. Just let the addicts follow their gut feelings - people under treatment have to talk over very (and I mean very) personal experiences and sometimes it hard to do, for example if the therapist is a member of the opposite sex or in a wrong age or even when he is too blond.
Why the right therapist is so important?
One can force itself into beginning the therapy, but to endure all the months needed to complete it is another matter entirely. One has to have an anchor that will keep them in the therapy and won't let go. The best anchor possible is the link of friendship between an addict and a therapist. Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps people clean, so no one can underestimate this.

Substance abuse attitude testing by a standardized survey

Substance abuse attitude testing by a standardized survey
 by: Jeff Lakie

This is a short overview of a questionnaire used for substance abuse attitude testing in testing a CREATE (Curriculum Renewal and Evaluation of Addiction Training and Education) effects on Medical Students. My afterthoughts on substance abuse attitude testing are in the end of the article.
The survey overview
Questions 1-8 check the comfort level of a respondent.
Questions 9-38 deal with general attitudes.
Questions 39-51 deal students' attitudes to pregnancy.
In the first part of this substance abuse attitude testing sheet students had to answer to several question concerning the level of comfort when asking patients about various kinds of addictions (smoking, alcohol and drug) and talking about their effects. The second part deals mostly with students' view of illicit substances abuse in their neighborhood and at work as well as their opinions on personal effects of drug abusing.
The first part of this substance abuse attitude test was the most important in the whole survey for it checked the students' attitudes to pregnancy and substances abuse and their tolerance to them. Questions included smoking, drinking alcohol and drug use acceptance.
The sample questions may be found at , but unfortunately there is no place on the Net where the full form of this substance abuse attitude testing sheet is available to download.
Afterthoughts
What were the effects of the survey? Almost none. It seems (as other uses of this questionnaire shows) that short term courses on the effects of drug abuse changes nothing is perception of this problem. Maybe somebody should think of some better way to spend money on drug use prevention? Some long-term courses or mandatory long-term help programs that deal with drug addicts' may be one of the solutions, but it is possible that we have to use some very different approach to changing people's attitude toward substance abuse, the one that will leave short-term courses and leaflets in favor of something else. But what would it be, I honestly don't know.
If you happen to have any idea on this subject, publish it. I've been looking for publications on this subject for a long time, but I was unable to find anything worthy of noticing.

Which Drug Addiction Treatment Is The Best?

Which Drug Addiction Treatment Is The Best?
 by: Jeff Lakie

The answer is simple: there is no such thing as the best drug addiction treatment. Depending on the kind of the addiction, your age and social situation different treatments may be chosen for your benefit.
Here are a few most common drug addiction treatments (from www.nida.nih.gov website):
(1) Relapse Prevention - this treatment helps you control your behavior, learn to identify dangerous situations and avoid them. It concentrates on augmenting your learning processes and developing your own defense skills.
(2) Matrix model - strict and personal, with therapist acting as your friend and as your coach at the same time. This drug addiction treatment seems to be intensive and deep. It works as much on your consciousness as on forcing into you a kind of drill which prevents you from using drugs.
(3) Supportive-Expressive Psychotherapy - it works mostly through interpersonal links, creating your sphere of comfort and teaches you to trust in other people support. Good and comfortable, used mostly for cocaine and heroin addicts.
(4) Individualized drug counseling is a drug addiction treatment that concentrates not only on a drug addiction, but works also on other related subject - employment status, family problems etc. It's a short-term therapy, but when it helps, it helps in a big way.
(5) Motivational Enhancement Therapy - this one concentrates on the addicts will - its aim is to incite the will to fight the addiction. It changes people, but in a good way. It makes them stronger and more focused.
(6) Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents - the treatment is based on assumption that by showing desired behavior and rewarding any steps addicts take toward achieving it, this drug addiction treatment will change patients behavior to drug-free one.
(7) Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) for Adolescents takes a different approach and tries to help addicts by their families. It offers interesting and fruitful approach as many addictions have their roots in dysfunctional families, but it doesn't need only the addict's cooperation, but also the help from the family, which may be sometimes difficult.

How To Find A Drug Rehab In Florida?

How To Find A Drug Rehab In Florida?
 by: Jeff Lakie

When you're in need, the quickest way is the best: if you put "drug rehab in Florida" in your search engine, the first page it finds will be the right one. There you'll find all the information you need, including addresses, contact information as well as some number and explanations to how they are going to help drug addicts.
Just be warned that there are two kinds of treatments: "inpatient" and "outpatient". Unlike you probably think, both of them should be attended for a long time (the longer the better), the difference is elsewhere. "Inpatient" one requires patients to move to a rehab center, while "outpatient" allows them "onsite" drug rehab. In Florida there are plenty of treatments of both kinds - as far as I know the first ones are used to cure more serious cases, while the second is usually just prophylactics.
Detox: a necessary step in drug rehab programs.
Whichever kind of treatment you choose, detox will be the first step in your drug rehab. Florida is no exception here: at all treatment centers patients have to go through the detox. There are three stages of it:
(1) Medical, when your body gets clear of narcotic. The process is supervised by doctors to ensure the safety of your health. When this stage ends, you may be sure that the most painful phase is behind you and you're ready to go to the next stage:
(2) Physical detox. When you're no longer poisoned, the time comes to build up your ruined body. In this stage of drug rehab the most important person is your nutritionist, who helps you to create the diet that will suit your needs. It ends at the moment when your body is healthy. The only remaining problem is your psyche.
(3) Emotional detox. Here comes the last, the least painful, but the most important part: curing your emotional addiction. Every drug rehab in Florida offers you some counseling in the process. It doesn't really matter what exactly they do. All of it works as long as you COMPLETE THE PROCESS. After three-four months of therapy your addiction is no more as long as you don't start it again - and that's why you need this stage. You have started to use drugs for some reasons, haven't you?

Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong Not Just News

Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong Not Just News
 by: Jeff Lakie

As with just about anything in life, there are many things that can go wrong with plastic surgery. But just as we don't hear news reports about the millions of planes that have taken off and landed safely, there is not the same attention devoted to the many success stories of cosmetic surgeries as there is to plastic surgery gone wrong. There are risks involved with this type of surgery, as there are in undergoing operations of any kind, but the usual difference is that while no doctor can force a patient to have surgery of any kind - even if it is a life-saving operation to remove a cancerous tumor - plastic surgery is generally a little more elective than the other.
And perhaps this is why we seem to delight in hearing about plastic surgery gone wrong. Nowhere is our interest in celebrities as heightened or as vicious as in this arena. While assigning the delight we find in the personal disaster of another human being to jealousy might be overly simplistic, there is doubtlessly a sense here of revelling in the fall of someone we thought - or felt they thought themselves - to be untouchable.
It seems that regardless of the expensive doctors they might have access to, the rich and famous are as susceptible to the vagaries of happenstance as the rest of us - sometimes, things simply just go wrong. Plastic surgery has literally been the death of some, and side effects can be life threatening. Even relatively minor mishaps can be unsightly and embarrassing, and plastic surgery gone wrong includes an enormous range of problems, from capsular contraction in breast implants (where the implants harden painfully) to problems with the wound and the slippage of implants inserted in a range of locations, including cheeks, chin, and butt. Surely we wouldn't wish these accidents on our worst enemies - unless they were in the public eye.
So celebrities might have thousands of things we think we want, but they are as subject to the whims of higher powers just as the rest of us are. Above all, we are all human, and plastic surgery gone wrong, regardless of the paycheck of the life it affects, is a painful and upsetting time. Let's just hope they get well soon.

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon Treat Yourself to Surgery at Its Best

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon Treat Yourself to Surgery at Its Best
 by: Jeff Lakie

Los Angeles is the city as infamous as it is famous, as notorious a city as you can find. It is a city that is known the whole world over, even by millions who have never visited it, and it is surrounded by an intriguing mysticism that few can resist. This is where the famous people live, the young, the rich and the beautiful, a city that houses people so gorgeous that the plastic surgeons must be the best in the world! Many people travel here from all over the world to have their surgery performed here by the very best. But if the city and its surgeons are that good, surely the prices must be as high-flying too?
Because it seems that Los Angeles people have to be beautiful people too, you can be sure that Los Angeles plastic surgeons will be plentiful and highly skilled. The disproportionate demand for cosmetic surgery in this city compared with other parts of the country means that the competition within the industry here is huge - so professionals have to be top-notch in order to survive. Making an appointment with a Los Angeles plastic surgeon almost guarantees that you will be meeting a professional who is well qualified and experienced, with knowledge of all the latest innovations at his or her disposal. The success of the industry in this part of the world pushes it on to bigger and better things, so if you are looking to avail of all the most up-to-date techniques, then this is the city to visit.
The popularity of plastic surgery here means that surgeons can charge what they like - but the very multitude of professionals means also that they must remain competitive in their price structure. There are a number of great deals to be had. The city's booming industry also means that sometimes hacks can flourish, offering half price operations at half the standard of the true professionals. Always check out the credentials of your surgeon before you submit to their knife - in a city filled with the best in the world, you don't want to be one of the unlucky ones who falls prey to the unscrupulous. Even the cheapest deal in the world is not worth that.
Finding the best deals in town will take some homework - use the Internet, local press, or even ask around to find the best deals offered by the best surgeons. You might have to pay a little more to avail of the services of a Los Angeles plastic surgeon, but the gorgeous results will make you glad you spent the money.

The Dangers of Plastic Surgery

The Dangers of Plastic Surgery
 by: Jeff Lakie

There is very little in this life that comes without risk, and the dangers of plastic surgery are a prime example of this. Most of us have been reminded by elderly relatives that our lives could be cut short any day simply by crossing the street; this adage is usually quoted to remind us to live each day to the full, and to do the things that will bring fulfilment to our lives, despite the many risks inherent. While it is true that the sensible among us put the inevitable risks of daily life to the back of our minds in order, simply, to stay sane, a balanced life is perhaps knowing risks to pay attention to, and which to ignore.
There is little doubt that the dangers of plastic surgery are multiple, but its popularity nevertheless continues unabated. These dangers, clearly, are for many people acceptable one, and plastic surgery seems to be something that offers potential benefits significant enough to plough on regardless.
But there is also an element in the human condition that clings to the tenet that ignorance is bliss, that it won't happen to me anyway, and perhaps there is something to be said for that belief. Constantly thinking of the possible dangers of life will only immobilise us with fear. We would never take a chance on anything; never seek to better ourselves, or our world. And while plastic surgery has its detractors as well as its advocates, surely even those opposed to the surgical alteration of a healthy body can applaud the willingness to take a leap of faith towards something believed in?
They say that knowledge is power, and the making of an informed decision is only possible with all the facts to hand. Perhaps you will choose to continue on your desired route despite understanding the risks and dangers of plastic surgery, but you will be making a decision based on something real, rather than the foolhardy belief that things cannot go wrong.

Prices For Plastic Surgery - Looking for Cheaper Deals Abroad

Prices For Plastic Surgery - Looking for Cheaper Deals Abroad
 by: Jeff Lakie

There are few of us who can afford plastic surgery without first having do some saving - or some lottery winning! Although the prices for plastic surgery are becoming ever more competitive, the whole procedure is still out of reach for many. And the figures that you might see when surfing the net are often the surgeon's fee alone, and do not include the array of expensive necessary extras that your operation will require, such as the use of the operating facility itself, the anaesthesia, whether general or local, any implants to be inserted, and other general clinical supplies. Top this off with the different state or local taxes that might be applicable at your facility location, and you end up with a medical bill that can be astronomical. So are there any ways to get cheaper plastic surgery?
Unfortunately, it is inescapable that surgery, of any kind, is expensive, and you do not want to compromise either your health or your safety by choosing a cheaper surgeon who is not adequately qualified and experienced. Some people are finding good deals when incorporating their plastic surgery with a trip abroad, but should you pick this option you must ensure that the qualifications of the surgeon are comparable to those of professionals taught in the United States. While many of the surgeons you will find in foreign locations will be highly skilled, there will be those involved in the industry simply to make some money - ensure that you do not fall prey to one of these so-called doctors by carefully considering the qualifications of any surgeon you consider.
While there are some great prices for plastic surgery to be found abroad, you should also factor in any other costs you might incur by travelling to your surgeon. When the cost of flights or other transport, hospital or hotel accommodation, and any other travelling fees are taken into consideration, the price may reach close to what you would pay for surgery in the US. When making your decision be sure to factor in all the costs you might run into, so that you make an honest evaluation of the potential cost of your surgery. And remember - it is not worth paying for cheaper plastic surgery with your safety or your health.

.Weight Loss.. The Strength in Setting Goals, Achieving Objectives and The Power of Intention.

"Weight Loss." The Strength in Setting Goals, Achieving Objectives and The Power of Intention.
 by: Kurt Hurley

The act of taking the first step is what separates the winners from the losers.
-Brian Tracy
Objectives and goal setting and a desire or an intention to meet said goals and objectives is, undoubtedly the most imperative piece of the puzzle when attempting to achieve anything worthwhile in life. And as Brian Tracy has outlined here, it is indeed the act of taking the first step and then following through that will separate the winners from the losers. Clearly defining what it is that you want is where it all starts and Weight Loss is no different! The potency of your objectives and the power of your intention will totally aid in the clarity and sharpness of outlining your goals. So if you truly want to achieve permanent Weight Loss, you must completely see yourself 'lean' or 'lighter' with absolute lucidity! It can happen to you. You've heard it before; life is a journey, not a destination...
Enjoy the trip, but know where you're going, it's easier to get there!
Brushing your teeth, washing your hair, 'showing up' at work regularly and sleeping are all habitual rituals, they are daily practices that promote or provide either assurance, insurance, functionality or the opportunity to continue to have or use something that you probably want to keep... Stop doing these rituals and decay, breakdown or unemployment occurs, which just causes a downward spiral of unpleasant events. Although this sounds a bit funny, the reality is your body functions or DIS-functions in the same way, practice daily effective, proactive rituals and ta...da... you either attain, maintain or achieve the object or objective desired. Exercise and nutrition are often perplexing topics, usually shrouded in mystery, but need not be. Knowledge and application of knowledge are not the same thing; they are quite separate and distinct. Knowing how to do something and doing it is where the line is drawn and having an intention, coupled with an objective acts as the proverbial driver behind the wheel...and placing intention into the subconscious mind is like stepping on the gas pedal, which in turn produces action or OBJECTIVE.
Can you remember when you were young and wanted something so bad that nothing else mattered? That thing that drove you was desire and if you actually did get that 'object' of desire, well that was intention that propelled you to go out and get or "receive" that object. Goals or objectives motivate and generate oomph, you know...that get-up-and-go, they are the steam that wakes you up, gets you to work, helps you focus and aids in the process of achievement. Emotion married to objective is fuel for accomplishment. Develop a sense of purpose, a reason why and combine that purpose with your desire and your emotionally stimulated intention, put this desire, intention and purpose in writing and since we're talking about Weight Loss, this could be that desire. With laser-focused accuracy, picture a 'clear-vision' of how you see yourself in 'fighting' condition, we call this "visualizing" and remain focused using all of these components and guess what... It will happen... Yes, time patience, persistence, effort and action are required, but you will reap what you sow, it is an unfailing fact. Positive reinforcement, now this is the next phase... Any suggestion that you plant into your subconscious mind is used, if it's negative.... Negative results, if it's positive... Positive results! If you know what to do, but you can't seem to get yourself to do it, you've probably been giving negative or conflicting messages to your subconscious mind. The behaviors that are produced by subconscious conditioning are more commonly referred to as habits. Fortunately, you can re-program your subconscious mind with positive instructions and become a creature of positive habit, just as easily as you can become a victim of negative habits. It all begins with a conscious decision and written objectives.
Attention to intention
The mind... It's a terrible thing...to waste that is! I am always stunned at the similarities that we all share and on the flip-side, stunned at how different we are. So simple, yet so complex...and when it comes to the exercising of our mental capacities, well this is where some have signs of mastery and others, as if a sleeping giant lies dormant! I have worked with thousands of people through the years and what is remarkable is in all the training and nutrition programs I've designed for such unique purposes, almost all of them fall into similar distinctive mind-sets, either they possess the desire and intent to accomplish something great; or they feel that they are losing something that they want badly enough to keep! The sine qua non or upshot is, if you want to get in amazing shape, all you really have to do is make up your mind and "intend" to accomplish your objective. You build that body of your desire by setting goals and focusing your attention on them. Setting into motion this attentive intent is the positive action required to impel you on-ward and up-ward. Exercise and eating right are only two components in the matrix of this program and in all honesty, if you don't properly tune that focus 'in', the best of programs or intentions will not eliminate the natural tendency to 'bail-out' before success has arrived. Self defeat is the 'killer-of-giants', where success is concerned. The whole concept of setting goals and having objectives to aspire to works because it activates the mechanism of the all-powerful subconscious mind, which in-turn activates the application of intention, which as you might of guessed... produces results.
Success
The theme here is to take control of your own mind; success will be found when you become proactive about your 'destination' and take the proper steps required to 'arrive'. It is truly about the tremendous power of self-control and self-reliance. These are inner resources, which you already possess, which you have always possessed. You may not have realized that you have these abilities, but they are there, as latent as they may be...they are there! You may not have used them or you may have underemployed them, it's not uncommon. Change can happen, but first you must decide that change is what you indeed want and move with reckless abandon toward that change. With all the necessary tools and the proper mindset in place and in proper form you can achieve anything and I mean anything! So, get ready to succeed and to live a life of true conviction and purpose. The Scottish essayist Thomas Carlyle wrote, "Have a purpose in life, and throw yourself into your work with all the strength of mind and muscle as God has given." Beautiful! And until next time, Good luck and may God be with you…

The Truth About Weight Loss. The 6 Biggest Myth's About Dieting!

The Truth About Weight Loss. The 6 Biggest Myth's About Dieting!
 by: Kurt Hurley

All of our behavior results from the thoughts that preceded it, so the thing to work on is not your behavior, but the thing that caused your behavior, your thoughts.
- Dr. Wayne Dyer
Let me preface this article with the notion that I truly, indeed detest the word diet, but for simplicities sake… I'll use it!
The stark reality is that sometimes eating too little can be a literal roadblock in attaining a lean fit and healthy body.
Eating less in daily calories (food/nutrients), than your minimum metabolic needs causes your body to burn muscle and store fat.
This is what is called the 'Starvation Metabolism' response, where the body, when deprived of adequate calories, will adapt to need fewer calories to function. As a result, dieters often regain the weight they lose almost immediately because they have starved their body into becoming a "fat-storing machine." Sadly the truth!
For most of its history, the human race was subject lock, stock and smoking barrel to the whims and fancies of dear old Mother Nature, especially where our nutritional needs were concerned. When the conditions were right, food was plentiful; when they were not, the populace starved. As a result, evolution shaped our progenerators bodies in such a way that during times of plenty, they were able to pack on layers of fat to provide them with the sustenance they needed to get through the lean times…not the 'fit' times, the 'LEAN' times!
And as evolution would have it, humans became adept at mastering their environment, nevertheless, famines grew rare, and the built-up fat reserves often went unused; our ability to manipulate the environment had exceeded nature's slow practice of adaptation.
At present, obesity is pervasive in wealthy nations like the U.S. So what in the heck happened to moderation and balance? Particularly impacted are those of us of European and Eastern African origin, whose forbearers needed bodies that could efficiently manufacture fat reserves to outlast the periodic famines. As a direct result, many of us have become corpulent, mostly because it's hard for us to fight the natural tendencies of our bodies to accumulate fat. Currently, some 64% of Americans are overweight and more than one third are obese.
With that being said, as contemporary living human beings, we don't have to allow nature to get the leg up on us (nature nurture then nurture nature). Being overweight and more specifically, over-fat isn't healthy, especially for those of us who suffer from conditions like hypertension, diabetes, heart conditions and other insufficiencies of adequate, abundant health.
But what's the best way to lose weight (fat)and to regain a healthy state of body composition?
As you might have guessed, there are to be nearly accurate, thousands of specialized or Doctor/Guru-ized diets, procedures, dieting devices, miracle pills, powders and the like out there, all of which promise you they'll help you get lean and sleek. Some of them actually work, but how can you tell which ones? How do you thread your way through the plethora of dieting on your way to a healthier, slimmer you, without setting off self-destructive behaviors that can incapacitate your dieting efforts?
The answer to that question is this: Very Vigilantly.
While persuasive and a little facetious, it's nonetheless true. Some things are palpably false, fraudulent, misleading or simply prey on our innermost desires; for example, there's no magic pill (never will be), grapefruit or otherwise, that can in an isolated form cause you to shed the pounds. New-fangled fad diets don't work, and neither do most of the "scientific" ones that are so fervently promoted. Despite this, Americans are willing to spend more than $50 billion a year on fad diets and gimmicks, when in fact the most effective dieting advice comes down to this: Expend more calories than you consume! What I refer to as the two (2) E's, Exercise and Eat Right! Get it! To Ease!!! To ease all that ails us.This, we know is true; it's just difficult to assemble the willpower necessary to… belly-up to such an audaciously unpleasant proclamation.
If you're adamant about your health and well-being and want to attain 'real-results', keep this truth in mind… "You can lose weight and keep it off". Peranent weight loss can happen. The intention of this article is to help you along the way as you edify and develop the management skills necessary to achieve success by identifying the most common weight-loss myths that can perplex you during your expedition. We've left out the miracle claims and preposterous matter in favor of presenting more reasonable-sounding myths that an intelligent person might be beguiled and enticed by. Let's start with the most omnipresent myth.
#1
THE MYTH: Avoiding meals can assist you in losing weight faster.
THE TRUTH: Erroneous, Incorrect and Blatantly WRONG! This is Taking The Low Road!
It seems logical, just like its consequence ("the fewer calories you eat, the more weight you'll lose"), but it's not true. The effect is the opposite of what you expect. Dieting is based on the fact that if you burn more calories in a day than you take in, your body will begin burning fat. While this is true, if you expect to lose weight effectively, you need to maintain eating regular meals, especially breakfast.
Depriving your body of its necessary fuel and nutrients causes it to go into starvation mode; when this happens, your metabolism slows down so that you can get by on little to no food. Once your metabolism slows, it can be quite difficult to bring it back up to momentum, and until it regains its pace, normal eating will just cause you to gain more weight.
It can be a vicious cycle that's excruciatingly difficult to break. In addition, bypassing meals can make you feel lightheaded and weak, can have venomous effects on your cholesterol levels, and can be extremely perilous for diabetics.
In a nutshell, fasting and crash diets are forms of self-sabotage best avoided. What's more, eating frequently (and moderately) will leave you less hungry throughout the day and cause a satiated effect, so you're less likely to have or give in to your food cravings.
#2
THE MYTH: Starches are Fattening.
THE TRUTH: False and Unsafe.
For one thing, it's difficult to completely avoid starches, since they're a major component of staples like bread, pasta, grains, fruits, potatoes, corn, and rice. Even if it were possible to cut out all starches, if you did so you'd be starving your body of the fuel it unconditionally needs in order to maintain proper body-system function. Food consists of only three basic substances or macro-nutrients: proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Starches are carbohydrates; and carbohydrates, along with their metabolic products and core nutrients are your body's basic fuel.
Most of the fuel your body uses comes from a carbohydrate identified as glucose. Some glucose you might consume in the form of candy or sodas; some carbohydrates in substances like alcohol, quickly break down into glucose. Glucose is absorbed by your cells and used to run your bodily processes; any excess is stored in your liver or converted into fat, where it can be called upon at need.
If your body lacks glucose, it'll eventually start using any fuel source it can find. At first these might be fat cells, but as they shrink, your body may begin attacking the protein reserves in your muscles for the fuel it needs, referred to as catabolisys. This is a "last-resort" move generally saved for famine conditions, so if it happens to you, it's bad news. The truth is that your metabolism by virtue of your circadian rhythm is better able to digest, to process and to assimilate certain food sources at certain times of the day… Translation: Some foods are more efficiently assimilated at set points of the day because of the composition or complexity of the source and as our metabolism rises and diminishes throughout the day. More complex foods such as starchy carbohydrates become increasingly more difficult to fully take through the digestive process, without a 'diminished returns' effect occurring and fat storage beginning.
#3
THE MYTH: Vegetarian or Vegan diets are healthier than omnivorous diets.
THE TRUTH: Not…
A diet (merely a regime of frequent consumption) consisting entirely of rice and french-fries, or of bananas and cheerios, can be considered vegetarian, but neither diet is healthy in the long run. If you're careful, you can get by just fine on a properly balanced vegan or vegetarian diet, but you'll have to manage your in-take very carefully. Vegetarian diets do tend to be high in fiber and low in fat, but the fact is that humans evolved as opportunistic omnivores. That is, our ancestors ate anything they could get their hands on: greens, tubers, bugs, and the occasional smidgen of meat and this dictated how our bodies today, still require nutrients for efficacy and fuel for performance, that's what we do… Perform! Preferably Efficiently! Poor Physical Performance is what we simply call… SICK!!! Emotionally, Physically, Spiritually…what-have-you!
The human body developed and evolved to expect a diverse and varied diet, one that could provide all the nutrients it necessitates in a variety of forms. Meat was an important part of their diet, perhaps the most important part because it was so uncommon. Vegetarians must always be sure that they eat enough protein; protein is easily available in meat, so few omnivores have to worry about getting enough, but it's scarce in most plant foods.
Fortunately, nuts, beans, and a few other vegetable products are ready sources of protein. If you go vegetarian, you'll also need to be sure you get daily doses of Vitamin B12 and Zinc, supplements often missing in vegetarian diets.
Most people can continue to exist as vegetarians if they're extremely careful, but it's a continuous mкlйe, and guess what? You can be just as healthy and out-of-shape on a vegetarian diet as you can on a regular diet, especially if you don't exercise regularly.
#4
THE MYTH: Sweating facilitates weight loss.
THE TRUTH: Absolutely… If the sweat is exercise induced!
Otherwise, all you're doing is losing water weight. Sweating is astonishingly effective at doing what it was meant to do: cooling the body by glazing the skin with evaporative fluids.
It was never meant to act as a weight loss system. Lose enough water, and you're toying with dehydration. Dehydration or progressive dehydration can occur if you fail to rehydrate yourself sufficiently after every workout. If you get sufficiently dehydrated, your electrolyte balance will get out of whack, your cells will be starved of the fluids they need, and you could die. Not a happy prospect, so avoid it.
For this reason, the old sweatbox and sauna are of no use for losing real weight. Neither are their modern "high-tech" equivalents, such as body wraps and plastic sweat suits, no matter how many people swear by them. All they do is dehydrate you. Yes, you lose weight: two pounds per quart sweated away. But that's weight, not fat. And the moment you drink enough water, you'll gain all that weight back. Like I have said… "Weight Loss is a LIE!"
#5
THE MYTH: Fat Free is… Calorie Free!
THE TRUTH: YEAH… RIGHT!!!
All "fat-free" means is that a particular food has no detectable fat content. Sadly, however, is that fat and its related compounds that give most foods their flavor. Ice cream, butter, cheese, and a whole host of non-dairy products, including chocolate, are little more than specially prepared, congealed fat. When manufacturers design many fat-free products, such as bread, cookies, ice cream, and the like, they know these products will be mostly dry and flavorless without fat.
Some fat substitutes are available, but they can cause gastrointestinal upset, and most are expensive. This leaves one common ingredient that manufacturers can use to make their products taste better: sugar. And they use it liberally; so many fat-free products are high in calories.
Furthermore, plenty of foods like breads and pasta are low in fat, but rich in carbohydrates and we already know what that means. Carbohydrates break down easily into our friend glucose, which can result in increased fat when consumed in excess.
You always have to consider calorie and portion size; you're fooling yourself if you do otherwise. Moderation is the key to dieting success… Any …long-term success for that matter.
#6
The Myth: You Either Diet Or Exercise, You Can't Do Both Simultaneously!
The Truth: Don't Get Me Started!!!
Yes…you can do both together and you should, it is referred to as Synergy; the coordination of two effective components working concurrently to derive a greater benefit than if isolated.
The dieting myths and misconceptions explored in this article represent just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. There are thousands of them out there: some are ridiculous and barely worthy of notice-like the suggestion that eating standing up helps you lose weight, or that you can base a diet on your blood type or color of hair-while others are less obvious, like those discussed here.
Dieting isn't easy and, while it's human nature to look for a simple solution to a problem, that strategy just won't work in this case. So heed these hints, and take it easy. Don't skip meals, keep your diet properly balanced, and exercise regularly. Avoid all fads, pills, and extravagant claims, because if it sounds too good to be true...well, you know the rest.
It doesn't take more than losing a few pounds before you'll notice a difference in the way you look and feel. And, if you lose only a few pounds at first, even if you've been at it for a while, so what? Pick up a five or ten pound bag of flour and carry it around for a day, and you'll see how quickly you'll get tired of lugging that excess weight around.
Application of sound methodology is always the most effective means to achieve any objective, with that said, if you want to truly shed those extra pounds or kilos of fat, then do yourself a favor and draw up a plan, combine all the necessary elements of success and execute that plan…

Sleep Sanctuaries, The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of

Sleep Sanctuaries, The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of
 by: K.C. Craichy

Sleep isn't just one of those things that kills time until we can get up and get busy again! Sleep is critical to our mental and physical wellbeing. Without it our immune systems are weakened-the number of white blood cells in our bodies decreases, production of human growth hormone (GH), an anti-aging substance, decreases, and our ability to metabolize sugar declines, turning sugar into fat. Sleep deprivation has even been used as a method of torture because of the extreme physical and mental anguish it exacts on victims!
Sleep is needed to regenerate certain parts of the body, especially the brain, so that it may continue to function optimally. And, because when we sleep we experience REM associated with dreaming, we are fortified emotionally and mentally. We wake up alert, energized, and balanced. Believe it or not, an extra hour of sleep can be better for our overall health than one hour in the gym!
But it is often a challenge to create a quiet place that is conducive to optimum sleep. That's why creating a "sleep sanctuary" is so critical . . . it tells the body and mind that it's "time to let go."
Make sure your space for sleeping is quiet and dark. Try not to sleep in the same room as you do your work. Turn off the computers and the television long before you turn in for the evening. Adjust the thermostat to a slightly coolish temperature (between 65 and 70 degrees). You can always add another layer, but a stuffy air and climate can cause discomfort and breathing difficulties.
Many people, especially urbanites who can't escape city sounds, will place a sound conditioner (also called a "white noise machine") by their beds to help them sleep. These machines offer any number of sounds, from white noise (a low static sound) to gentle musical rhythms to the sound of ocean waves beating against the shore. Although white noise doesn't block out noise, it does desensitize people to outside sounds so that they are less intrusive. For people who are more easily disturbed by the sound of neighbors or street noise, these moderately priced machines can be very helpful.
Super Health Sleep Tip: Do not consume alcohol, sugar or caffeine before bed, and reduce or eliminate those substances from your diet in general, as they are stimulants that exact a heavy toll on the central nervous system and make it more difficult to establish regular sleep patterns.

Medical Collections True Tale: A Dental Debt Deadbeat

Medical Collections True Tale: A Dental Debt Deadbeat
 by: Joel Walsh

Medical collections are costing doctors millions. Here are the secrets of why patients don't always pay their bills, from a real-life deadbeat.
With medical collections costing doctors millions upon millions of dollars in unpaid bills and collection fees, many people have just one question: Who are these people who are trying to stiff the doctors who delivered them from great physical pain (or the flu, hypochondria, not-so-white-teeth, or a nose that didn't look enough like Brad Pitt's)?
Well, I'm here to tell you who these people are, or at least some of them.
They're me.
Yes, I admit it: I left a dentist's bill unpaid for three months.
OK, so dentistry isn't technically considered "medical," but it's the same situation: a doctor left in the lurch.
Why did I do such a horrible thing, especially when I, a small businessperson myself, know how difficult unpaid debts can make cash flow, and how it could very easily make me persona non grata in that office?
Why Medical Collections Happen
Or, Possible Reasons for Me Being a Deadbeat
Here are reasons commonly advanced for why people like me might not pay a doctor's bill.
1. They don't have enough money, plain and simple. After all, if they couldn't afford insurance, they probably are going to have trouble with the bill.
2. They don't care about the poor doctors and either don't know about or don't care about the potential for damage to their own credit ratings.
3. They are chronically lazy, stupid, or just don't know what they're doing. OK, the terms used aren't quite that specific, but that's the general idea.
All of these possible reasons why a patient might not pay could be pretty discouraging for a practice looking to get the money it's owed. After all, there's not much even the best doctor can do about a patient's poverty, venality, or fecklessness.
But is there really so little hope for collecting on medical debt?
Why Medical Collection Isn't Necessarily So Hopeless
Or, The Real Reason I Didn't Pay My Dentist's Bill
I just signed and mailed a check for my outstanding dentist's bill. That just goes to show the situation isn't so hopeless after all, doesn't it? Here's at least one case of a healthcare practice getting its money back., and after three months at that
No, my financial situation did not improve dramatically, nor did my slothful ways correct themselves.
Wondering what the dentist did to make me pay? Plead? Cajole? Shame? Threaten to put the tartar back?
Actually, the dentist didn't do anything, and that's the problem.
Here's what happened: I remembered I had the bill to pay.
I had forgotten ever owing the dentist money. Since I wasn't expecting the dentist's bill, unlike all the bills that come every month, it got lost in a pile of credit card offers, appeals to help save trees being cut down to make paper, and news about really great products for writers. The follow-up letter reminding me to pay met a similar fate. It probably didn't help when I took a trip to Las Vegas and then threw away the junk mail en masse when I got back.
I finally remembered the bill when someone asked me to write an article about medical collections. Sure enough, the follow-up letter (though not the original bill) was there in the pile of newsletters and friendly reminders from various businesses to schedule this or that appointment.
The Moral of the Story
If you are a patient, make sure to check your mail for letters from the doctor's office. If you're running a healthcare practice, follow up with your patients who have outstanding invoices—a phone call is preferable, since it's less likely to get lost at the bottom of a pile of correspondence.
Don't have time for that? Worried about the legal issues of collection law compliance? Don't let that stop you. Go to a company that specializes in medical collections and accounts receivables management for healthcare practices.
It's not about "putting debts in collection" anymore. Many of these companies offer everything from sending out a few polite phone calls and letters to end-to-end accounts receivable management. None of this has to impact your patients' credit rating or cost you a fortune.
Your office can go back to healing people. Isn't that why you got into this business in the first place?

Incredible - Essential - CoQ10

Incredible - Essential - CoQ10
 by: Mike Spencer

Deficiencies in CoQ10 (also known as Coenzyme Q10) can cause or aggravate many conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and periodontal disease.
"After age 20, levels of Coenzyme Q10 in your body decline gradually. After 50, it plummets."
Healthy levels of CoQ10 help to lower your blood pressure and assist circulation as well as maintain healthy muscle tissue in your heart.
CoQ10 is also one of the most powerful antioxidants known to man.
CoQ10 levels decline as we age. This is significant because evidence suggests that a vast number of diseases including dystrophy, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Neurological disorders and certain cancers are not only treatable with CoQ10 but may in fact be caused, at least in part, by a deficiency in CoQ10.
What can CoEnzyme Q10 do for you?
Take a look at what Coenzyme Q10 can do for your health:
Slows down the aging process as it protects your body from the damage of free radicals
Support your immune system defences
Is beneficial for promoting cardiovascular health
Plays a crucial role in the maintenance of periodontal health
Research has shown that your immune system function is reduced when your levels of CoQ10 are depleted.
What is CoQ10?
Coenzyme Q10 resists easy classification. Because it's an organic compound acting as an enzyme or coenzyme, necessary in small amounts for normal body function, most researchers consider it a vitamin.
CoQ10 is needed in every single cell in your body. It's found in meats and some protein-rich nuts, but the concentrations in these foods are normally weak.
How about fifteen pounds of peanut butter - or an equally improbable three-and-a-half pounds of sardines - which provide just 100 mg of Q10!
Now I love peanut butter - but fifteen pounds..... a day!
This is the amount the University of Washington School of Medicine Physicians' Update calls "a reasonable daily amount."
To get optimal amounts of Q10, you need to take a supplement.
Why you need CoQ10?
Coenzyme Q10 is recognised as an essential component in your body's production of ATP (also known as "muscle fuel").
Without ATP, our muscles cannot move. Without CoQ10, we can't manufacture ATP.
After age 20, levels of CoQ10 in your body decline gradually. After 50, it plummets.
Coenzyme Q10 is also one of the most powerful antioxidants every discovered, and has been found to improve athletic performance, and help intensive training athletes recover quicker.
In short, CoQ10 may well be one of the most important and versatile nutrients ever discovered. The only downfall of CoQ10 relates to its oral absorption.
A Breakthrough in CoQ10 research
Fortunately, however, a recent breakthrough in CoQ10 delivery technology was recently discovered, meaning you can now make the most of this amazing nutrient.
"When I coined the word vita-nutrient, I was thinking of Coenzyme Q10. It is neither vitamin nor mineral nor amino acid, yet it is absolutely vital to our health and vital that we get enough of it." Dr Robert C. Atkins, M.D. from his book, "Dr. Atkins' Vita-Nutrient Solution"
Although it's present in virtually every cell in your body, very few people are aware of how important it is or how many different health benefits CoQ10 provides.
In fact, CoQ10 plays so many different roles in health, you really need a book to detail all of them!
CoQ10 combats effects of heart attack.
Coenzyme Q10 is shaping up to be a heart's best friend. But only a small fraction of people who could benefit actually know about it.

Causes and Effects Of Acne . Understand Your Acne Treatment

Causes and Effects Of Acne – Understand Your Acne Treatment
 by: Michael Rad

There are several acne care treatment methods that work well and are not very time consuming or expensive. Such techniques would be the treatment with alpha hydroxy acid or several forms of chemical peels that can do wonders for zit treatments. These methods of getting rid of acne are proven and effective and many cases of patients suffering from aggravated pimple irritation found these to be the perfect acne treatment. In the following article we will look closely at the above-mentioned acne care treatment methods and help you decide which technique will work best for your pimple problems.
Acne Care Treatment
The causes of acne are tied to the changes that happen when a child passes from infancy to puberty. Many persons still believe that acne is caused by dirty skin. The truth is, instead, is that to only wash the skin does not make acne disappear, nor does it prevent it. Adult acne treatment methods works just like those addressed to other age groups. To wash the skin, however, helps to remove the excess of sebum and the dead cells of the skin, and adults should be aware of this as well. Many persons use every type of product, including alcoholic detergents and exfoliant creams, often irritating the skin more than clearing it! Adult acne treatment approaches should also consider the social and psychological effects of adult acne. To wash the face two times a day, in a delicate way with water and a delicate detergent, is the best choice. However, acne is caused from a complex array of biological factors that cannot be eliminated just by washing. For this reason, it is necessary to begin a serious adult acne treatment focused on the problem of acne.
Adult acne treatment – myths and facts
In some cases, acne also persists in the adult age. This type of acne, generally, hits the skin of the face, but also the one of the body, and men are more exposed then women. Adult acne treatment for women takes into account the fact that the appearance of this type of acne is parallel to the menstrual cycle. In other cases, the acne is introduced randomly in the adult age: this type of acne plagues men and women alike. Acne is not caused by food, but some food items do have the potential to irritate the skin. To follow a tight diet will not recover your skin. While some think that their problem of acne is aggravated from the foods they consume (like the chocolate, drinks, fat oysters and foods), there are no scientific tests that demonstrate this being true. However it is not a mistake to avoid the fatter foods, but a focused and well-applied adult acne treatment is also necessary in order to get rid of this annoying condition. There are several ways to eliminate zits in adulthood. The most successful acne treatment methods may include acne blemish laser treatment, acne rosacea treatment, laser acne treatment. Consult with your dermatologist in order to determine which adult acne removal treatment will work best for you.
Treatment – Alpha hydroxy acid
Also known in the medical community as ascorbic acid, this technique mainly focuses on improving the levels of oil in the skin. It actually reduces the oil amount produced by the skin, thus diminishing the chances of acne eruptions. Alpha hydroxy acid also reduces the number of dead cells in the skin so your face looks healthier and with less irritation. This particular acne care treatment is effective when used in the early or mid stages of the problem, but it also used in severe acne treatment. The acid is found in several acne treatment drugs and ointments
Chemical peels acne treatment
In most cases, chemical peel treatments are used to remove lines under the eyes and around the mouth, as well as, sun-damaged skin, mild scarring, age spots and other skin problems. Acne treatments may include this method in which the dermatologist applies a certain chemical substance to the skin. The targeted spot blisters and can be peeled off. This method of acne care treatment is effective mostly for removing scars, especially in the facial area. The treatment is accompanies by some heat and stinging sensation, a fact that most patients found acceptable given the efficiency of the acne treatment.
Acne care treatment final remarks
There are several other methods for curing acne, such as home remedies or laser treatment. In order to select the best treatment for your pimple and zits you should consult with your doctor or dermatologist. For more acne information please visit: www.acnexpert.com.

Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatment
 by: Michael Rad

Excessive underarm sweating can become an annoying problem for those suffering from this condition. Axillary hyperhidrosis manifests itself through an increased underarm sweat production and this is triggered by the sympathetic nervous system. A malfunction in the nerves controlling underarm sweat glands leads to excessive sweat production, resulting in constantly moist armpits. Often associated with the negative effects of palmar hyperhidrosis, axillary hyperhidrosis is sometimes triggered by exterior factors such as anxiety, psychological stress and tiredness. This is not a rule, however, and there may be no clearly identified stimuli that trigger excessive underarm sweat.
Treatment for Sweaty Underarms
There are several methods of reducing the effects of axillary hyperhidrosis. Antiperspirants are among the most commonly used treatments for sweaty underarms, and they work well for reducing milder cases of this condition. Deodorants are succesfuly used to relieve patients of some of the worries caused by excessive sweat. When the effects of antiperspirants are not strong enough, some consider surgical procedures to eliminate the problem. The underarm sweat glands can be surgically cut so that their production doesn't exceed regular limits, but this si a complicated and costly procedure. However, sinc antiperspirants are the most common choice for patients, we will have a detailed look at their effects.
The Efficiency of Antiperspirants in Combating Hyperhidrosis
Antiperspirants are useful for treating milder cases of hyperhidrosis, as they can diminsih the negative effects of excessive sweating. By targeting specific sweat glands, antiperspirants significantly reduce the sweat production and increase the dryness of the skin in the areas where they are applied. Various products come in different forms, such as deodorants and medication. Deodorants are the most widespread form of antiperspirants, as they are easy to use and producce very little or no discomfort.
Axillary hyperhidrosis
One of the most effective chemical compounds used for hyperhidrosis treatment is Aluminum Chloride. Used in higher concentrations, Aluminum Chloride has a faster impact on the sweat glands, reducing their excessive production. Aluminum Chloride products work best at night time, when the sweat glands show a reduced activity, and long term results may show some improvement concerning excessive sweating of the armpits.
Axillary Hyperhidrosis and Its Social Implications
While from a medical point of view, sweaty underarms do not represent a health risk, they are hard to deal with in society. The discomfort of constantly having damp underams is increased by the fear that clothing accessories will become sweaty. Axillary hyperhidrosis treatment is seen as a necessary thing by many who suffer from this condition, as they feel this problem is affecting their social interactions. People who suffer from any form of excessive sweat are faced with some difficult social and psychological issues. Many are overwhelmed by these problems and become somewhat anti social and have difficulties integrating in groups. Career plans are also placed under the negative shadow of axillary hyperhidrosis, as self confidence and self esteem levels tend to drop.

Medication Options For Acne Sufferers

Medication Options For Acne Sufferers
 by: Marc Howlett

Oral Acne Medication Options
At the onslaught of puberty, many teens suffer from various radical changes - physical, physiological, emotional.. you name it! Of course, one of the most apparent transformations is that of the physical changes. Aside from the males developing more muscles and moustache and females developing their breasts and hips, there's this one change that commonly annoys an enormous portion of the adolescent population. Acne vulgaris!
Acne vulgaris is also known as acne or pimples in more common terms. Overproduction of oil that suddenly happens to teenagers and sensitivity to dirt are the precursor to this menacing skin disorder. But those two or their combination are not the only cause of breakouts. Many other factors could trigger acne. Genes, weather conditions and certain substances from food may set off the invasion or just the presence of acne.
Dermatologists and researchers have been trying to discover the best acne medication. Acne, no matter how miniscule a disorder it may seem, needs adequate attention. These tiny bumps on one's face could elicit major effects on a person. Not only vanity motivates experts to find or formulate the most excellent acne medication. Ridicule for having a pockmarked complexion is often one of the leading causes of low self-esteem among adolescents. What's worse is that this lack of confidence may be brought until one reaches his maturity.
The most recent forms of acne medication are the following:
Oral Antibiotic Acne Medication. This type of medication should always be mediated by consulting a physician. Various acne medication antibiotics that may be taken by mouth are supported by researches. Assorted antibiotics that act as acne medication are intended for moderate, severe to persistent types of acne. It is very important that a doctor is asked first on which antibiotics for acne medication is right for you.
Cortiscosteroids. Very severe acne may be prescribed with this acne medication antibiotic. This potent antibiotic is usually taken in a short span of time only. They have metabolic effects that make them inappropriate for long-term use.
Oral Tetracycline. This antibiotic is one of the most popular oral acne medications. Moderate to severe acne may be treated with an initial dose of 500 to 1000 mg per day in a decreasing dosage as skin condition improvement is noted. This antibiotic is not for the pregnant women since it can cause skeletal defects to fetus. Children with age of under 8 years are also not advised to be given this medication.
Oral Minocycline and Doxycycline. These acne medications in the form of antibiotics are only derived from tetracycline. Research evidences tell that these acne medications are more effective than tetracycline. Doxycycline is reported to induce sunlight sensitivity. Both are advised not to be taken by pregnant women.
Oral Erythromycin. This antibiotic that serve as an acne medication may be taken as an alternative to tetracycline since it is safer for pregnant women and young children.
Isotretinoin. This acne medication antibiotic is said to revolutionize acne treatment due to its potent effect in dealing with severe and treatment-resistant acne. Reports has it that isotretinoin is very effective in treating all forms of acne. But it should be noted that many side affects are also attributed to isotretinoin. This includes severe birth defects to a fetus, dryness of the skin and mucous membranes. Therefore, pregnant women, breastfeeding women or those who are planning to become pregnant must not take isotretinoin as a form of acne medication.

Acid Reflux/Heartburn - Simple Steps to Relief

Acid Reflux/Heartburn - Simple Steps to Relief
 by: Andrew Kelly

You've seen the advertisements: Acid reflux is a horrible disease that can cause damage to the oesophagus and lead to cancer. Are these claims realistic, or simply exaggerated to sell over the counter medications? The fact is that doctors don't even agree on the causes, treatments, and long-term risks related to heartburn, so you can believe what you want about the ads.
Heartburn is the uncomfortable feeling resulting from acid reflux, or GERD, gastroesophageal reflux disease (try saying that out loud a few times). It can feel like a burning sensation (hence, the name), but can also feel like pressure in the chest, which is why it is sometimes confused with feelings associated with heart attacks.
Acid reflux occurs when the muscle between the stomach and the oesophagus gets weak or relaxes at the wrong time. The result is that the stomach contents, including the acid, move up into the oesophagus. Because the oesophagus doesn't have the protective lining that the stomach does, the acid literally burns the oesophagus.
What Works?
Several non-prescription drugs may be effective for mild to moderate acid reflux, such as antacids, which neutralize stomach acids. These include well-known over the counter medications such as Tums and Rolaids. Another option is H2 receptor antagonists, which reduce the production of stomach acids. These include Axid AR, Pepcid AC, Tagamet HB, and Zantac 75. Pepcid complete is the only of these that combines an antacid with an H2 receptor antagonist. Which is the best treatment? One study found that Pepcid complete performed better than either an antacid alone or an H2 receptor antagonist alone.
Prescription drugs prescribed to treat acid reflux are called proton-pump inhibitors. These include Aciphex, Nexium, Prevacid, Prilosec, and Protonix. While these are equally effective, one study did find that Nexium may heal esophageal sores faster.
Homeopathic Remedies
Combined with homeopathic remedies, heartburn may be treated effectively with less reliance on over the counter or prescription medications. Together, these solutions may provide the answers where just one solution fails to deliver on the promise.
Natural options that may help reduce GERD include deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL), which may bring fast relief and help heal damaged lining. Aloe Vera juice may also act quickly to bring relief. For those with chronic problems, Gamma-oryzanol (rice bran oil) may be useful, as could choline, pantothenic acid, and thiamin. These natural solutions may provide more effective short-term relief as well as provide long-term dietary benefits.
Why Try a Homeopathic Remedy?
The benefits of natural solutions is that they are often less costly and reduce the chances of becoming reliant on a particular solution. Natural solutions include treating the cause as much as the affect, and experimenting with diet and alternative treatments may help lessen the cause of the problem. Additionally, all of the homeopathic remedies mentioned above can be used along with over the counter or prescription medications.
Does Acid Reflux Cause Cancer?
Studies on acid reflux and cancer vary. One study showed that chronic acid reflux increased the chances of oesophageal cancer by as much as eight times. Another study determined that the risk of cancer is not nearly as much as was once thought. Chronic acid reflux can lead to Barrett's oesophagus, or BE, which has been thought to lead to an increase in cancer. A study conducted by a group of medical doctors found that the risk of cancer from BE is not as much as previously thought, stating that BE will not cause cancer for most people.
What is not questioned is whether or not acid reflux is uncomfortable. Chronic GERD is difficult to live with, and experimenting with both traditional medications and natural remedies may be the best solution. As research continues on the causes and affects of GERD, additional options are likely to come along.

You Are What You Eat, Do You Dig Your Grave With Your Tongue? Boost Your Immune System

You Are What You Eat, Do You Dig Your Grave With Your Tongue? Boost Your Immune System
 by: Alfred Jones

I know that the headline is a oldie, but it really is a goodie and is so very true of most of us, in this age of fast takeaway foods giving us all the foods that we should not be eating if we wish to maintain good health. What you must do is have natural nutrition that will boost your immune system.
Do we eat enough foods that contain antioxidants? or do we really know what antioxidants do for our health?
Antioxidants help to protect our systems against the terrible effects that free radical molecules have on our bodies healthy cells, They have been associated with premature aging and a whole spectrum of diseases such as eye problems, cancer and cardiovascular disease, they could also be the cause of a number of auto immune disorders.
You will see that antioxidants are important to our health and lifestyle. The body actually produces antioxidants as a normal part of energy production from the nutrition that we consume daily, however, we are also exposed to the effects of smoking, pollution and chemicals in what we eat and drink, unfortunately these sort of things increase the production of free radicals. What can we do to overcome these effects? the answer is simple, that is to somehow or other increase the level of antioxidants produced in the body, to overcome the extra free radicals being produced. In other words, we have to boost your immune system.
Without getting technical, the best way to do this is by eating lots of plant foods and making sure that your diet is full of these health giving foods.
There are many antioxidants available in different fruits, nuts, vegetables, legumes, grains and seeds.
You should also look for color in you plant food intake, red, yellow, orange, green, this will ensure that you have a wide balance of the antioxidants needed by your body.
Some of the antioxidants that are easy to obtain in their natural form are:
Vitamin E, this can be found in avocado, nuts, seeds, wholegrain and wheat germ, this can help with cardiovascular problems.
Lycopene, is found in red or pink fruits or vegetables like tomatoes, this helps in preventing cold sores, prostate cancer, and it might even help to prevent skin cancer.
Lutein, is found in green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cabbage lettuce, they help to prvent cararacts, macular degeneration and other eye diseases.
Sulphur Compounds, are found in garlic and onions, broccoli, cabbage and brussel sprouts.
I have mentioned before the huge antioxidant benefits that can be obtained from broccoli if eaten the correct way. Broccoli itself is an abundant source of antioxidants, but if you grow salad sprouts from broccoli seeds and eat them in your salad they contain about thirty times more antioxidants that broccoli eaten in the normal way. That will help your body to receive a Boost to your immune system.
This is by no means the complete list of foods that will help you produce the antioxidants, there are thousands more, but this will give you a good idea of where to start if you wish to improve your health.

NXT Unbreakable Sun Lenses

NXT Unbreakable Sun Lenses
 by: Benjamin W J Teo

Before the creation of NXT, optical lenses such as sunglasses were not impact resistance. And could cause serious injury to your eyes if the lenses were to crack or shatter.
Now with a breakthrough in technology, there is a universal solution for the optical market. NXT is made of soft, flexialbe and comes with a shatterproof guarantee. It protects the eyes from impacts, cuts, scratches, chemical and atmospheric agents.
"NXT is the greatest innovation in the past 40 years in the field of unbreakable transparent optical polymers."
What is NXT made of?
The patented NXT technology was originally developed by Simula Technologies in the early 1990's but only for military use. The military need a material that was: transparent, lightweight and bullet proof and more superior than Polycarbonate.
In 1996 Simula Technologies partnered further develop this material and called it NXT. This technology was specifically aimed at optical uses.
Today NXT is a proven new material with its own brand, and has become the new reference for unbreakable and transparent plastic sun lenses:
Charactistics of NXT Transparent and clear Unbreakable Lightweight Optically superior Easily worked without cracking Stable over time Solvent resistant Reliable
Some Advantages
NXT can be thermoformed, dye cut, pressure fastened, punched, riveted, slung grooved; all this without causing the material to be brittle.
The traditionally materials used for sunglass lenses all incurred similar problems called "Stress Cracking." It is caused when screws were inserted into the lens. Stress cracking can be insidious because cracks can appear after the production has ended which leads to defected products.
NXT is the first and only optical polymer available in two formats regular and soft; and is the first sun lens that can be folded without breakage or cracking.
The second variation of NXT is called NXTSoft which is obtained through a chemical modification of the original formula.
Lenses made of NXTSoft can be found on our website http://www.beauvision.com.au and is exclusive to our brand range of sunglasses and optical lenses.
NXTSoft has made it possible for rimless sunglasses to be worn during various physical activities without the risk of scratching or hurting the face in case of accidental collision thus making it one of the safest sun lenses in the world.
If you have any more question about NXT please contact us via our email form on our website at http://www.beauvision.com.au
We are more than happy to answer any of your questions.

Depression and EPA fish oil. Does it really work?

Depression and EPA fish oil. Does it really work?
 by: David McEvoy

It is now no secret that people all over the western world are turning to high grade ethyl EPA omega 3 fish oil to treat a number of conditions, but can it really work against a problem that knows no boundaries of age, race or gender. It is a condition that affects millions of people at some time in there lives, it's called depression.
Depression
So can high grade ethyl EPA fish oil help with depression and low moods, lets take a look at the evidence. In one study involving 20 people with recurrent depression, researchers studied the effects of the specific omega 3 fatty acid known as pure EPA.
Patients involved in this study randomly received either the ethyl EPA fish oil capsule or a sugar pill in addition to the anti depressant medication they were taking. After only four weeks, six out of ten patients receiving EPA had significantly reduced symptoms of depression.
The leading researcher in this study Boris Nements said " the effect of the fatty acid EPA was significant from week two of treatment" he also noted that " the symptoms of depressed mood, guilt feelings, worthlessness and insomnia had all improved by week three."
This particular study was carried out at the University of the Negev in Israel and was published in the American journal of psychiatry 2002.
Another very high profile study using the essential fatty acid pure EPA was carried out in Scotland by doctors Peet and horribin. This study involved seventy patients who were suffering from depression that was persisting despite ongoing treatment with standard antidepressant drugs.
The study lasted twelve weeks, and the background anti depressant drugs the patients were receiving was not altered during the trial. The results showed that the patients taking EPA showed significant improvement after only four weeks in all symptoms of depression, when compared to the group who were administered a dummy pill.
This study was published in the Archives of general Psychiatry.
Pure Ethyl EPA
Omega 3 fish oil is high in two key compounds DHA and EPA. In both studies mentioned above they used ultra pure ethyl EPA that contained zero DHA. The reason for this was that they found that the purer the compound of EPA then the more effective it seemed to be.
The brain has much more DHA than EPA but the studies found that EPA is much more important when it comes to responses to nerve stimulation. It appeared that the DHA maybe more important for structure and the EPA for function.
Blood samples taken from people in the USA, Europe, Australia and Japan showed that depressed people have especially low levels of EPA, when compared to blood samples of people who were not suffering from low moods or depression.
The lead researches from the study in Scotland both concluded that EPA is the most important essential fatty acid in the treatment of depression.
These findings are backed up with two randomised controlled trials from Sheffield and Baylor universities involving DHA only, which showed no improvements in the symptoms of depression. In fact the results were significant and showed the DHA controlled groups to be slightly worse than the placebo controlled groups.
Conclusion
People all over the western world are successfully using pure ethyl EPA without the DHA to treat depression and related disorders.
