As you age, your blood vessels often become stiff to increase the risk of high blood pressure. Luckily, a new study done through the University Of Athens by Greek researchers showed the surprising link between drinking coffee and preventing high blood pressure.
Previous research has been inconclusive as to whether or not coffee is bad or good for the heart. This new study was done on 485 men and women within the age group of 65 to 100 who lived on a small island in the Aegean Sea called Ikaria. The natives of this island normally live up to their 90th birthday, and the researchers wanted to find out their secret to long life.
All of the participants within the study had high blood pressure, and they underwent scans to determine the state of the stiffness of their blood vessels. Within the group, 11% drank 3 or more cups of Joe each day, 56% drank 1 to 2 cups of coffee per day, and 33% drank less than one cup or no coffee at all. The participants in the group that consumed 1 to 2 cups of coffee per day also had 25% more elasticity in their blood vessels than those who did not drink any coffee whatsoever.
This study also took into account other factors that can affect aging in the blood vessels, such as gender, smoking, physical activity, age, education, blood pressure, body weight, diet, and diabetes. The study also revealed that those participants that drank 1 to 2 cups of coffee each day were less likely to have cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, or be overweight.
What is the reason for this?
The men and women within the study mostly drank traditional Greek coffee that came in small, espresso-sized servings. This Greek coffee is much stronger and contains more caffeine than espresso, and it also contains important compounds, like magnesium, potassium, flavanoids, vitamin E, and niacin to combat damage to the blood vessels caused by age. These compounds blocked the damaging effects of oxidation that can create inflammation in the blood vessels. This oxidation will also produce free radical damage, which will injure the cells in the body and cause stiffness in the blood vessels, resulting in high blood pressure.
Traditional Greek style coffee has more of these compounds than other coffee methods because it is unfiltered and boiled. The study results showed that hypertensive patients are recommended to drink coffee in moderation at 1 to 2 cups per day to slow down the advances of arterial aging.
One other interesting aspect of the study was that the participants normally drank their coffee at home or in cafйs as they relaxed, meaning that there could be psychological benefits to regularly drinking coffee to benefit the heart. This is fantastic news for fans of coffee, so take the time to try different coffee brew methods, like Greek style coffee, which you can enjoy in moderation to protect your heart health!

Increasing Export Driving Indian Generics Drug Market by Shushmul Maheshwari
India is considered as one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical markets in the world. Export has been the key driver for the Indian pharmaceutical market. During the last few years, India has emerged as an intensely preferred manufacturing location of pharmaceuticals worldwide due to the low cost factor. The European and African countries have been added up as new destinations for exports. The exports are expected to pick up pace in future as healthcare reform in the US and other countries will inflate demand for generic drugs. As per our new research report “Booming Generics Drug Market in India”, the generic drugs market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of around 16.3% during FY 2011-FY 2013 on account of rising exports.
Export of generic drugs from India has increased due to the growing demand and acceptance of generics in all over the world. Hence, the Indian pharmaceutical firms now have a significant presence in almost every major pharmaceutical market. Moreover, Indian companies like Ranbaxy, Cipla have set up operation networks in developed countries to facilitate their operation and marketing efforts in a proper manner.
We have found that the companies are now desperately searching for new areas in the domestic market for expansion. Rural parts are definitely the country’s spotlight for drugs manufacturers. For this, special expansion plans in marketing network and infrastructure are being carried out by the players. Besides, the focus is on developing and launching drugs in the special niche segments. These trends are also expected to continue in future.

Government Support to Impel Brazil Generics Market by Shushmul Maheshwari
The generics industry in Brazil has registered a significant growth rate during the last few years. Our research report “Brazil Generics Market Forecast to 2012”, says that the Brazilian generics market will continue to witness the same uptrend in next few years. It is expected that the generics market will post a CAGR of nearly 19% during 2010 - 2012. Our report has thoroughly examined the factors primarily responsible for growth of the generics industry. The biggest one among them is the strong government support that has made it a norm to prescribe generic in the public sector.
Drawing a comparison between Brazil’s pharmaceutical market and generic drugs market, we have found that the generic segment has grown in line with the development of pharmaceutical market. One of the major issues faced by the Brazilian pharmaceutical market is price models. The government generally purchases drugs through public bidding to get the lowest possible prices and this fact has infused the growth of generic companies.
Our research report has found that both public and private companies are pouring investments to develop new products, treatments, and therapeutics. These companies have focused their strategies on research and development (R&D) to develop generic drugs for oral contraceptive, anti-diabetics, cardiovascular, and other therapeutics. Our report contains thorough information and rational analysis of these therapeutics segments.
We believe that the regulatory environment and IPR regime play an important role in the development of the generics industry of the country, and therefore we have included all the requisite information on the regulatory environment of the country in our research report. In addition, the report highlights various industry restraints, which are blocking the growth of the industry and presents certain useful recommendation, which will be critical to both clients and the government. Moreover, the report provides information on the competitive landscape of the industry along with the SWOT analysis of the key players.

Diet Programs And Meals - The Montignac Diet by Levi Reiss
The Montignac Diet was invented in the 1990s by Michel Montignac, a pharmaceutical industry executive. In addition to helping you lose weight, this diet has the goal of improving your pancreatic health but to do so you must follow it for at least two months. The initial phase is dedicated to losing weight and is followed until you reach your desired weight. The longer this phase lasts, the better off you will be. The following phase is devoted to stabilization; it may last the rest of your life. Here are some of the diet principles.
During Phase 1 stop eating several foods. These include sugar, bread, glucides such as potatoes and processed rice, alcohol, and drinks other than fresh fruit juice, skim milk, and decaffeinated coffee. Eat as little fruit as possible and eat it only before breakfast or late at night. Add fiber to your breakfast. Eat a balanced lunch that includes vegetables, animal proteins, and cheese. Supper should be based on lipids and fibers. Start with vegetable soup. Try not to eat meat except for poultry. Eat a glucide-rich supper three times a week. During Phase 2 you may add certain items to your diet. Fruit mousse, chocolate mousse, and ice cream are acceptable as are red fruits. Don't eat cake or pastry because they contain bad glucides. Red wine is allowed, but must be drunk after the entree.
The Montignac Diet may have a favorable effect on those suffering from hypoglycemia by suppressing the production of excess insulin and thus stabilizing the level of blood sugar. Advantages of this diet are the general lack of hunger and its ease to apply. It can be unpleasant for those with a sweet tooth.
Here are two sample menus:
Menu 1 (Phase 1)
Breakfast: A bowl of oatmeal. A bowl of skim milk. Decaffeinated coffee.
Lunch: A plate of ham. Grilled salmon. A plate of zucchini. A yogurt.
Supper: Onion soup. A herb omelet. Green salad. A slice of mimolette cheese.
Menu 2 (Phase 2)
Breakfast: An orange. Two slices of whole-grain bread with margarine. Decaffeinated coffee.
Lunch: Avocado with dressing. Chicken. A plate of ratatouille. A chocolate mousse.
Supper: Cabbage soup. A mushroom omelet. A green salad. A yogurt.
Some information in this article comes from a fascinating new book, La Bible des Regimes, written by Jenny de Jonquieres and published by Amerik Media. Her book describes over 80 diets and weight reduction programs. Each diet is presented with 5 menu plans, a detailed discussion of its advantages and disadvantages, and a whole lot more. La Bible des Regimes is available only in French at present.

What are Photo Facials And Laser Resurfacing? by Nick Messe
Cosmetic procedures aren't for everyone. There are those that believe they pose unnecessary risks to potential patients. There are also those who believe women and men are pressured into these types of procedures by a society that expects physical perfection. Unfortunately, these beliefs are mostly misconceptions.
Cosmetic surgery becomes safer and more affordable each year, with new procedures constantly being developed for those who seek them. Procedures in the modern world are chosen for reasons other than the pressure to be beautiful. Women choose to have these procedures for the same reason they choose to wear make-up. They simply want to look their best and bring out the self-image that most represents how they feel about themselves.
This is especially true of those who are aging. We all want to look as young as we feel. Remember, the body ages quickly but the mind remains young. There are at least four exciting new options available to women and men who wish to remain as youthful on the outside as they are on the inside.
The soft face lift, or S-lift as it is called in Europe, is a minimally invasive face lift that shortens recovery time and takes significantly less time to perform than a regular face lift. People are often able to return to work in only one week. As with all procedures there will be some discomfort. Short term bruising and tightness in the cheek area are possible.
Contour thread lifts accomplish your dream of plastic surgery without a knife. This kind of face lift produces a more natural look than older face lift procedures. Women in their thirties will find it especially rewarding because those traumatic first sags can be remedied safely and easily. Contour thread lifts are a temporary and women over the age of sixty will have to consider stronger solutions.
Photo facials are 30 minute procedures performed a total of six times. They are space out with three weeks between each treatment. There are no knives involved here either. You simply go under intense light that fosters the growth of new cells by invigorating collagen and blood vessels.
Laser resurfacing does what its name implies. It utilizes the power of the laser to resurface, or resurrect, the layers of skin, by removing its outer layers. The result is a more youthful skin texture.
The obvious benefit is that there is no cutting involved in this procedure. The normal risks apply here. There may be tenderness of the face and a temporary change in pigmentation of the skin following the procedures. In more serious cases, the skin may lighten permanently, so if you have a dark skin tone, this procedure might not be for you.
Youth these days isn't only for the young. People want to look as young as they feel, and do it with the least amount of pain and recovery time. All of these procedures can help you achieve your goals. So, go for it and go in for a consultation soon.

How to Find a Dentist in Lincolnshire by Kathryn Dawson
Whether you want to find a dentist in Lincolnshire, or any other part of the country for that matter, the steps you should take are always the same. Having a dentist that you visit regularly is very important and you should organise to see one as soon as you move to a new place. In fact it should be organised at the same time as sorting out a doctor as it too is very important. To ensure you find the right dentist for your needs, you should do a little research beforehand and not just head down to your nearest one.
First and foremost you need to consider location. If you are planning on visiting the dentist just once a year then you can afford to search a little further afield from your home or your work. If on the other hand you envisage needing a fair amount of work doing or you have several children that all need taking once or twice a year, then you will need to find a dentist a little nearer to where you live or where you work. It can be very time consuming going to the dentist, and you don't want to have to spend a lot of time getting there.
How you will be traveling to the dentist will also affect which one is the most appropriate. If you have a car then you will need to check there is parking nearby and it is not in a place that is notorious for lengthy traffic jams in the middle of the day. If you are going to be using public transport then you need a dentist close by to a bus route or train station. You don't want to spend a lot of time simply getting to the door!
If it is just a dentist for you and your partner that you are looking for, then you don't need to worry about finding one that is particularly good with children, or even a specialist pediatric dentist. If your children will be using this dentist then this is something you may want to give some consideration to. Children need to have a good experience at the dentist and understand about teeth so they continue to care for them as they get older and they are not afraid of going for checkups. Adults often avoid going to the dentist because they had a bad experience when they were younger and that can lead to a lifetime of poor teeth. Finding a dentist with a particular focus on children's teeth is a good idea if you will be taking your children there.
A good way of finding a good dentist is to ask any friends, family members or colleagues where they go and get some referrals. This can be a big help as they will be able to provide contact details and help you get an appointment. Alternatively you can do a search online. By using a geographic location you can find a whole list of dentists in your area. If you want to know more about each one and prices then you can either phone or email each dentist you find asking for further information. Once you have narrowed it down to a short list you will find choosing much easier to do.
One final consideration to make is whether you are likely to want any specialist treatments carried out in the future. From teeth whitening to dental implants and veneers, different dentist practices can carry out different procedures. Find out what is available when you contact them initially. Whether it is a straight forward dentist in Lincolnshire or any other part of the country that you are looking for, or a cosmetic dentist to create you a perfect smile or give you invisible braces in the UK, take the steps outlined above to find the right one for your needs.

Kegelmaster-Providing Solutions For Tightening The Loose Pelvic Muscles by Andrew Rivano
Kegelmaster is a device to strengthen the pelvic muscle. It is very easy to use. Basically it is used to make vaginal muscle stronger. These devices should be used as a resistance device and help to build strong pelvic muscle. A body builder generally built his body by using resistance like a heavy weight. Similarly by using this type of resistance you can build your pelvic muscles properly.
You should use Kegelmaster to strengthen your vaginal muscle. It is innovative resistance exerciser for women. Millions of women suffer from incontinence, prolapse and other problems because of weakened pelvic floor muscles. They are compelled to minimize their activities due to these problems. Kegelmaster is called a miracle. Kegelmaster is very active device. You can solve most of your problems using Kegelmaster and practicing kegel exercises or pelvic muscle exercises.
In the pelvic floor there is a lot of muscles which are being unused. Normally women can not exercise with these muscles. The Kegelmaster is specifically designed in such a way that it will exercise all the pelvic floor muscles by adding dynamic resistance. Actually kegel exercises are useless without resistance. If you can strengthen your pelvic muscle you can avoid expensive surgeries.
During the female vaginal orgasm kegel muscles create sexual stimulation. If kegel muscles are strong and healthy then it will create a strong, long lasting and satisfying female orgasm. It will increase frequency and make achieving orgasm easy. It will help to increase overall satisfaction of female sexual experience. You can perform these by Kegelmaster which is very effective and doctor recommended.
Actually it’s an exercise of tightening the vaginal muscles slowly and then relaxes them slowly. It is like an elevator which slowly up and then slowly down. It is very effective for women. Some women find good results by practicing this. As your pelvic muscles begin to strengthen the Kegelmaster can be adjusted and this indicates that it is working. In fact it is good for muscles to provide resistance by any device. According to one survey it is clear that a huge women use any pelvic muscle toner device.

The Dangers That GBS and Meningitis Pose For Newborns by Joseph Hernandez
Group B Strep is the major frequent source of sepsis and meningitis (a severe illness of the fluid of the spinal cord and the fluid surrounding the brain) in infants. As a bacterial infection, group b strep can attack a newborn if it is passed to the child from the mother during the birth process
The bacteria normally grows in the vagina and/or the lower intestine. It is found in about 1 out of every 4 adult women. However, it does not typically cause an active infection or bring about symptoms. Passing of the bacteria from mother to the infant typically takes place in the course of labor and delivery. The child could be exposed to GBS, as an example, if the bacteria travels up from the mother's vagina into the uterus after the membranes (bag of water) rupture. The infant might additionally come in contact with GBS while moving down through the birth canal. In this period, the baby can consume or breathe in the bacteria.
Around 75% of cases of Group b strep in newborns arise in the first week of life, and most appear after only a few hours following birth. This is called "early onset" group b strep. The rest develop a GBS infection from one week to several months after delivery. This is called as "late onset" disease. In general, roughly fifty percent of cases of late onset can be linked to the baby's mother having been colonized with the bacteria. In the remaining situations of late onset, the origin of the infection is unidentified.
Once the baby is exposed to the bacteria, it can get into the baby’s bloodstream. This can result in sepsis (overwhelming infection all over the body), pneumonia, or meningitis. They are all dangerous illnesses which can progress rapidly and leave the infant with permanent disabilities or can even bring about the baby’s death. Various common likely disabilities are: brain damage, cerebral palsy, blindness, deafness, and seizures.
The most common symptoms of meningitis include: a high temperature, lethargy, unusual irritability, trouble feeding, stiffness, vomiting, and rashes. Given that the infection can progress rapidly quick treatment is needed to avoid significant harm to the baby. For bacterial based meningitis (for example gbs related meningitis), treatment requires the rapid use of intravenous IV and antibiotics. A diagnosis of meningitis is established by taking a sample of spinal fluid through a spinal tap and growing the bacteria for proper identification. This is important in order to identify the right antibiotic to be administered. The outcome of the test can take a few hours. In the time it takes for the results, the infection may lead to lasting damage or kill the infant. Given the immediacy involved, treatment generally commences before there is a confirmed diagnosis if meningitis is suspected. Penicillin is the most commonly administered treatment.
If an infant died or suffers from irreversible disabilities that were avoidable aside from the failure on the part of a physician to recognize signs of GBS meningitis or to give immediate treatment that doctor might be liable for malpractice. Parents of children so injured by GBS meningitis should contact a lawyer experienced in birth injury lawsuits immediately since the law permits just a limited amount of time to go forward with a birth injury claim.

How Would You React In The Event Your Doctor Held Up Detection Of Your Prostate Cancer? by Joseph Hernandez
How would you react if you discovered you had cancer of the prostate? How would you react if you then also found out that the cancer was advanced rendering it, at the current time, not curable? And how would you react if you then came to understand that your physician either failed to correctly screen you for prostate cancer or disregarded abnormal test results that could have led to finding your cancer while it was still confined to the prostate and was still curable?
Do you think that such a thing could not happen ? Then consider the following instances:
In one documented claim, a man was seen by his doctor, an internist, for three yearsThroughout this period the doctor ordered PSA blood tests that found elevated levels (a sign that the patient might have prostate cancer and which doctors ordinarily agree ought to be followed by a biopsy). The internist, however, did not disclose the abnormal test results to the patient. When the patient subsequently learned about the abnormal result and had a full cancer workup it was revealed that it was too late as he now had advanced prostate cancer. The law firm that handled this matter reported that the resulting lawsuit settled for $600,000.
In the second reported claim, the male patient was not only not informed that a series of PSA tests showed levels that were both abnormal and rising, but rather was told by his doctor that the results were normal. When the patient eventually went to a urologist at the urging of his family, he was found to have advanced prostate cancer as the cancer had already spread to the seminal vesicles. The law firm that represented the patient in this matter documented that the was was resolved for a $1,500,000 settlement.
Far too many men end up in circumstances similar to the above. Whether the physicians do not look at the results of the tests, whether they buy into the believe that there is no need to take action even though the PSA is high or a nodule of a certain size is detected in the prostate, or whether they simply do not comprehend the guidelines and the standard of care for the action that is proper when screening results are abnormal, these physicians cause a delay that brings about the growth and spread of the cancer.
Various doctors are of the opinion that there is no benefit to screening men for prostate cancer (or do not appreciate the guidelines) and either simply do not screen their male patients or recommend against it. Other doctors do not review the results of screening tests. Yet other physicians fail to follow up on an abnormal screening test result and not order a biopsy or refer the patient to a specialist. The result: an avoidable death that becomes unavoidable.
What if you were the patient who received such news. You fight the cancer as hard and as long as you could. Imagine being his spouse or life-partner. Imagine being his son or daughter. Imagine being his father or mother. You help him fight the cancer and you offer him all the love and support you can. You would help him fight the cancer and you offer him all the love and support you had to give.
Perhaps you also decide to bring a case for medical malpractice to protect your family’s future. And you might hope that if compelled to face the mistake and to incur a cost for it, possibly, just possibly, the physician will change how he or she treats other patients in the future so that this tragedy will not happen again.

Are There Any Promising Treatments For Mesothelioma? by Wendy Moyer
Malignant mesothelioma is a type of cancer that is usually caused by the inhalation or swallowing of asbestos fibers.
If it affects the chest the physician might look inside the chest cavity with an instrument called a thoracoscope. If it affects the abdomen the physician might look inside the abdomen with an instrument called a peritoneoscope. If mesothelioma is suspected a sample is taken that is then diagnosed by a biopsy.
Like with most other types of cancer, the outlook for mesothelioma patients will depend upon how early it is detected and how aggressively it is treated.
One of the big challenges is that it usually takes anywhere from twenty to fifty or more years after asbestos exposure for the symptoms of the disease to become apparent. And by that time it is often in an advanced stage.
Therefore, mesothelioma victims will often succumb to the disease within one to two years after it has been diagnosed.
However, there is some hope for the victims of this life-threatening disease in that new approaches to treating malignant mesothelioma are now being tested. These treatments are often a combination of traditional treatments. Or they can include something that is entirely new.
Drug Therapy
There are a number of drugs that are now being studied that offer some promise in the treatment of malignant mesothelioma.
- L-NDDP (Platar®) - this is a platinum product that is administered intrapleuraly. It is designed to overcome the drug resistance and toxicity that has limited the usefulness of other platinum drugs such as Cisplatin®. Two patients were in remission in a recent trial of this drug.
- Endostatin - this is a promising drug in that it has worked with angiostatin to destroy the ability of a tumor to grow blood vessels and not harm normal cells.
- A cholesterol drug called Lovastatin® has recently been show that it has the potential to inhibit the cell growth of mesothelioma cancer.
- The direct administration of intrapleural interferon gamma has also shown promise.
Photochemotherapy
In addition photodynamic therapy, sometimes called photochemotherapy, uses an intravenously administered photosensitizing agent that selectively concentrates in tumor cells. When the tumor tissue is then exposed to a special red laser light a lot of the tumor can be destroyed.
Immunotherapy
Another recent approach to treating mesothelioma is immunotherapy. This tactic helps the immune system fight mesothelioma.
Gene Therapy
Gene therapy shows promise as well. A study done in September 1999 found that the growth of mesothelioma cells in mice was prevented with interferon interleukin.

Science Update: Stem Cells and Cardiovascular Health by William Graham
Thanks to a growing body of research, scientists are now recognizing that having more stem cells in one’s bloodstream could be one of the greatest strategies for optimal health. For example, a number of recent studies have shown that a greater number of circulating stem cells equated to greater cardiovascular health.
Let’s look at some of these studies in a little more detail so you can grasp the potential benefits of supporting your body’s natural release of stem cells into the bloodstream …
In 2001, Vasa et al reported that compared to healthy individuals, people with cardiovascular problems had fewer endothelial progenitor cells (EPC’s) in their bloodstream. EPC’s are a type of stem cells responsible for the development of new blood vessels. The study also demonstrated that the EPC’s isolated from people with cardiovascular problems showed less ability to migrate in tissues. The Vasa group also reported that smokers had fewer EPC’s in their blood.
In 2004 Schmidt-Lucke et al measured the number of EPC’s in the bloodstream of 120 individuals (43 controls and 77 individuals at risk for cardiovascular problems) and observed these individuals for ten months. At the end of this time, the authors reported that a reduced number of circulating EPC’s was linked to a poor cardiovascular health prognosis.
The next year, in a similar but more extensive study, Werner et al measured the number of EPC’s in the bloodstream of 19 individuals, and observed these individuals for one year. Overall, the people with more circulating EPC’s experienced fewer cardiovascular problems and, conversely, the people who had fewer EPC’s in their blood showed increased incidences of cardiovascular events.
Thanks to recent studies, scientists now understand why greater numbers of stem cells in the bloodstream equate to better cardiovascular health. In essence, when a tissue has poor blood circulation, it lacks oxygen. And when a tissue lacks oxygen, it releases compounds that accomplish two specific tasks: 1) attraction of EPC’s into the tissue, and 2) conversion of EPC’s into capillary cells. Therefore, whenever a tissue is lacking oxygen, a process is triggered whereby circulating stem cells migrate to the tissue and contribute to the development of new capillaries. This leads to greater delivery of oxygen and nutrients, thereby helping the tissue maintain better health.
When we understand that poor oxygen and insufficient nutrient delivery to organs and tissues are two of the most common underlying causes for a wide variety of health problems, it is clear that increasing the number of circulating stem cells becomes one of the most valuable strategies for maintaining optimal health.

How to Eat Less and Feel Full by Wendy Moyer
If you've been trying to lose weight and get healthier then you surely know that those fattening little snacks at all hours of the night or day are doing you no good at all. Sure, they might taste sublime, but they are also packing on the pounds.
How would you like to eat tasty food that's actually better for you and, by their very nature, fill you up? Do you think that could help you to stave off those snack attacks? Read this short article and you will discover some simple yet enjoyable ways to eat better, feel full, lose weight, and get healthier.
Let's start with what to eat and then take a look at when to eat.
First off, a lot of research has been done that indicates that there are specific proteins that are important for both maintaining your health as well as for promoting weight loss. And studies have indicated that these proteins actually make you feel more full than if you ate an equivalent amount of fat or carbohydrates.
Nutritionists say that if you eat lean proteins throughout the day you won?t feel hungry. And unless you are eating to satisfy some emotional need, if you're not hungry you will eat less.
Since those midnight snacks are often the culprits that cause you to put on weight and keep it on, why don't we start off by looking at a handful of snacks that are actually good for you?
A really terrific snack is a tablespoon of peanut butter and an apple. Or you might want try putting a slice of low fat cheese on top of a slice of whole wheat toast or bread.
Alternatively you can eat a hard-boiled egg; or you can have three hard-boiled or three scrambled egg whites.
Other high protein snacks include half a can of tuna fish, a slice of turkey, or ten almonds.
When it comes to meal time, it has been found that it is best to start your day with a high protein breakfast. That's because when you do that you will feel less hungry throughout the rest of the day.
The aforementioned eggs could be a good way to start your day. Or you may want to enjoy a cup of fresh strawberries or blueberries, a one and a half ounce box of raisins, or a cup of cooked oatmeal.
If you're not partial to oatmeal then you can try three quarters of a cup of unsweetened bran cereal. Put some fresh strawberries or blueberries on top and you will be good to go.

It's Important To Get Your Hearing Checked by Nick Messe
Hearing loss creeps up before you know it. Because you can hardly test the average person's ability to hear all the random environmental noises they are exposed to consistently or accurately, it's very difficult to gauge the extent of hearing damage without a guidepost. The only way to get a clear picture of the progression of your hearing loss over time is to have your hearing periodically checked, especially if you live around, work in or frequent areas where noise levels are relatively high.
You could already be gradually losing your hearing and not even know it, but there's no reason you have to settle for being taken by surprise with audiologists ready to diagnose you. You can't discount the ability of low constant background noises to gradually eat away at your hearing abilities. Many of the industrial environments people are exposed to as a matter of routine are full of repetitive engine and machine noises. While these may be the easiest sounds to get used to, as they quickly fade into a background drone, they are still harmful, and can wreak havoc on your ability to hear and distinguish different sounds.
In addition, the techniques we use to combat the noisy surroundings that ruin our focus can also degrade our hearing, especially when we attempt to fight fire with fire. Headphones, radios, televisions and loud personal music players often get turned up so high that the volume is clearly audible to passerby. The wearer's attempt to isolate themselves from the noise around them, has created more noise of their own.
Unfortunately, even recreational noises can damage the delicate structures in the cochlea of the inner ear. Here, tiny hair-like cells detect sounds and transmit the energy from these vibrations as electrical signals to the brain, with the help of a network of sensory neurons. When these structures are subject to too much noise at once, temporary hearing loss can occur
Many folks commonly experience temporary deafness after attending a concert or being close to loud blasts like fireworks. Fever diseases like meningitis easily result in inner ear infection and hearing loss, and so can certain drugs and antibiotics, but the most important, often-neglected factor is the simple damage the cells inside the ear undergo being exposed to noise as they age.
Becoming actively involved in your hearing rehabilitation with an audiologist visit is the only way to find out if you are suffering from hearing loss before it gets out of hand and inconveniences you daily. A large portion of human communication may be centered around body language, according to experts.
Our interpretation of that body language is largely based on our hearing. While many shy away from the perceived stigma of having to wear hearing aids, remember that your pride is not worth your ability to communicate and interact, especially with those loved ones you hold dearest. Get your hearing checked by an audiologist today to avoid further complications.

When Doctors Do Not Follow Up After PSA Results Signal The Chance Of Prostate Cancer by Joseph Hernandez
Male patients frequently possess a poor knowledge of prostate cancer, their own chances for the cancer, and how to determine whether they have prostate cancer. Many men have little, if any, knowledge of the advantage of screening for prostate cancer or of the guidelines for when to start screening, how frequently to screen, and the meaning of screening test results. They put their confidence in their physician to do whatever is appropriate to detect any cancer early and cure them.
Delayed diagnosis of prostate cancer incidents are all too common. One typical medical mistake that is at the root of these cases arises when the male patient’s primary care physician (1) actually screens the individual for prostate cancer by tracking the amount of PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) in his system, (2) finds abnormally high levels of PSA and but (3) does not inform the patient, does not refer the patient to a specialist, and fails to get a biopsy to confirm whether the elevated PSA is a result of prostate cancer. The lawsuit below illustrates this situation.
A physician, an internist, discovered that his male patient had a PSA of 8. (anything above a 4.0 is normally viewed as high). The physician did not inform the patient. The physician did not refer the patient to a urologist. The doctor did not order a biopsy. Two years later the doctor repeated the PSA test. This time it had gone up to 13.6. Again, the doctor said nothing to the patient. Again, the doctor did not refer the patient to a urologist. And again, the physician did not order a biopsy. Two years later the doctor repeated the PSA test. It was not until three years after first finding out about the patient’s elevated PSA level that the physician at last advised him that he probably had cancer. Further testing showed that at this point he had metastatic prostate cancer. A prostatectomy was no longer an option. Treating physicians alternatively recommended radiation therapy and hormone therapy. Neither of these would cure the cancer but they might impede the cancer’s advancement and further spread. The law firm handling this matter reported that the case proceeded to mediation and settled in the amount of $600,000.
But not following up after observing abnormal test results brings about a situation in which those patients who do actually have prostate cancer might not find out they have it until it has spread outside the prostate, decreasing the patient’s choices for treatment, and substantially reducing the chances that the patient will be able to survive the cancer.
As the above claim illustrates physicians sometimes comply with the guidelines by performing screening for prostate cancer yet when the test results are abnormal they fail to do anything about it.

A Spine Injury Can Put Your Life In Jeopardy by Nick Messe
Spinal injuries can be one of the most dangerous injuries to sustain, and can take the longest to heal. The spine is the message system of the body, gathering the information taken in by nerves on our skin's surface or through our eyes, and relaying this to our brain. It also spreads the commands that keep our heart beating, our muscles moving, and gives us control over our bodies. When this crucial area of our bodies is damaged, any of these functions can be impaired.
Injuries to the spine can be sustained in one quick moment, or they can develop slowly from years of poor posture or repetitive movements. While it can be hard to avoid a car accident or other traumatic event that often causes spinal column damage, some things can be avoided. For starters, sitting in an improperly designed office chair has been shown to be terrible for your spine. It creates compression between the vertebrae, and doesn't allow workers to sit with proper posture, leading to weakened musculature.
When your back muscles don't have enough strength, they have a hard time keeping your spine supported, leading to more health issues. Something this simple can be solved by using an ergonomic chair. So can the spinal issues caused by sleeping in the wrong position, or using too many pillows. But what about spinal column injuries sustained in an accident?
Falling from a horse, being tackled while playing football, and being in a car accident can all cause immediate and permanent damage. The worst result is obviously death, or full body paralysis. Partial or temporary paralysis, brain damage, extreme pain, or loss of control of your bowels and bladder are all common results of a spinal cord injury as well. Anyone who suffered a severe blow to their head, neck, or back should be taken to a hospital immediately.
They should be stabilized and moved as little as possible along the way. A quick response is one of the best ways to minimize the damage a spinal cord injury causes. If you're already suffering from the pain and suffering caused by vertebrae compression, a slipped disc, or other spinal column issues, back surgery may be your best option.
Spine surgery has been improved drastically over the last few decades. Many conditions can be helped and sometimes even eliminated with the correct surgical procedure. Although most forms of paralysis are still permanent and irreversible, progress is being made towards giving mobility back to patients who can no longer walk.
There's no reason to live with the constant pain of a spinal injury when a competent surgeon can perform one of the newly developed spinal surgeries. You can regain sensation in numbed extremities, and enjoy the activities that limited movement stopped you from taking part in. If you're interested in these new developments in spinal care, speak with a spinal column specialist for more information. They'll be able to tell you if you qualify for one of these surgical procedures, and how it could improve your life.
