Sweating problems can tend to be a very common occurrence, although, excessive head sweating does not appear to be so common. It is just as serious as any other form of sweating, and should be treated as such. The people who suffer with excessive head sweating will normally be just as embarrassed and/or depressed as the people who also suffer from the other forms of excessive sweating.
Therefore it is vitally important to understand and acknowledge the range of causes for excessive head sweating, and for you to know about the various forms of treatment that are available to combat or control it.
Unbelievably though, one of the more unusual reasons for head sweating could be your thyroid. Your thyroid gland produces a range of various hormones that are used by the body. Therefore, thyroid disorders are able to cause very serious symptoms. When you have too little secretion from your thyroid, the condition is known as having 'hyperthyroidism'. People with this disorder can suffer from -
* extreme sluggishness;
* dry skin;
* scanty hair growth;
* and excessive sweating.
You will be considered as having 'hyperthyroidism' if you have an overactive thyroid gland, and the people who suffer this condition do tend to experience -
* some weight gain;
* excessive body warmth;
* excessive sweating;
* noticeably trembling hands;
* pounding of the heart;
* and in other circumstances, bulging eyes.
When it has been determined what has caused the excessive head sweating in your case, you should be able to determine the appropriate method of treatment for you. But remember, depending on what the specific cause of your excessive head sweating is, the treatment required for you will vary.
Medication is the most commonly diagnosed treatment, as it can be most effective in either slowing down, or speeding up your thyroid gland, depending on what treatment it is that you may need. However, because any improvement through medication may only be temporary, your physician must help you decide on what would be a more permanent measure. These permanent measures can include -
* eradicating it with radioactive iodine;
* and less often, the surgical removal of the entire thyroid tissue.
But, as soon as you begin experiencing what you may believe are signs of an overactive, or under-active, thyroid gland, one sign of which includes excessive sweating, you need to make sure that you get to see a medical professional as-soon-as-possible, then the doctor can assess your condition, and then hopefully you may be correctly diagnosed, and then have the recommended treatment.
As always, you will need to be diagnosed by your doctor, who will measure the blood levels of hormones that are secreted by your thyroid gland, and the pituitary gland which controls it. Be prepared to give them any information about the history of your symptoms, as these will be necessary for a correct assessment to be made of your condition by your doctor, or other medical professional.

Introduction to Dental Implants by Kathryn Dawson
Dental implants are artificial tooth replacement methods used to counteract the effects of tooth loss. The procedure itself can be placed in two categories, namely prosthetic dentistry or cosmetic dentistry. It is the only restorative medical procedure that has proven to be both functionally effective and durable when it comes to treating missing teeth. However, such procedures should be conducted under the medical supervision of a fully qualified dentist.
The first step of a dental implants procedure involves inserting a small dental implant into the jaws. This implant is generally composed of a screw and crown made of titanium. This is lowered into the jaws through a small diameter hole that is first made in the required place. Great skill and expertise are required for effectively conducting this service so as to prevent the jaw from any damage. After the placing of both the screw and its protective cover, the jaw is given time to heal. During this process, the bones take root in the screw and the filling is solidified.
Following the resting period, a temporary crown is placed on the screw after removing its cover. Soon the gums grow around this crown to make it look and feel 100% real. These implants are virtually indistinguishable from the original teeth because of the close functional and structural resemblance of the implant and the living bone.
Do You Require Dental Implants?
Teeth not only provide structural support to our facial muscles, but also play a very important role in digestion. However, once they begin to fall victim to cavities, accidents or other medical conditions, we start to adjust to the situation. There is absolutely no reason to do this. Dental implants are a safe and proven method for recovering lost teeth. Listed below are some of the conditions in which dental implants have shown positive results:
• If you are missing one or more teeth
• There is a lot of space between your teeth
• If you have trouble speaking and/or chewing
• If you are unwilling to use dentures
• If the existing bridges or crowns are causing you trouble
• The teeth that hold your crown or bridges are loosening
Addressing Dental Implants FAQs
Here are some questions that patients typically ask about dental implants:
• Will it cost a fortune?
• Will I lose my teeth at some point in time?
• How much will it hurt?
• What is the success rate?
• How long will it last?
The answers to these questions depend heavily on the dentist you are referring to. Dental implants need not be expensive; in fact some of the leading dental institutions in the UK provide highly competitive prices for their services. They deploy modern techniques of making dental insertions which have made these procedures hurt even less than removing a tooth. These implants often come with a guarantee of 10-15 years.
Cosmetic Dental Treatment and Its Advantages
Cosmetic dental treatment can be taken advantage of by just about anyone, irrespective of whether or not they need dental implants. This treatment also makes use of similar titanium based screw and a crown to install the fittings, the only difference being that the objective is to beautify the present set of teeth.
The overall jaw structure can suffer disfiguration due to various factors like childhood injury or late growth of some teeth. Now even such patients can go for dental implants and get themselves a fresh smile, custom made in the dentist's lab. The treatment is mostly painless due to the use of anesthesia and the fact that the jaw has limited nerve sensitivity. The new set of teeth, placed by cosmetic dental treatment, will require regular teeth whitening measures like brushing, flossing and regular trips to the dentist.

Eye Conditions: What are the Major Categories? by Kathryn Dawson
Due to difference in age, genetics, living habits or conditions, and diet, we suffer from different health conditions. The same applies to our eyes. Ophthalmic medical conditions or eye conditions can be divided into six major categories, namely cataract, diabetic, cosmetic, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal.
Major Categories of Eye Conditions
Here are the major categories of the various eye conditions:
1. Cataract: In this condition, the lens of the eye gets clouded. It is a very common age-related eye disease and typically occurs among people over 55 years. Younger people suffering from longstanding eye diseases, diabetes or kidney disease may fall prey to cataract. According to a study, 77% of people above 70 years of age are prone to cataract. This causes vision to get blurred and become sensitive to sunlight, car headlamps or other sources of instant bright light. It may also lead to colour blindness to some extent.
2. Diabetic Eye Conditions: Among the various body parts, diabetes can severely impact the eye. It can even lead to the complete loss of sight. Moreover, with one in every twenty five persons in the UK being diabetic, eye disease resulting from this ailment is common. This makes it important for diabetics to go for regular eye examinations for early diagnosis in order to prevent the loss of sight. When diabetes affects the retina, it leads to a serious condition called diabetic retinopathy. There are three stages, depending upon severity, namely background diabetic retinopathy, maculopathy and proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
3. Glaucoma: In the UK, two persons in every hundred above the age of 40 suffer from some form of glaucoma. This is a group of eye conditions caused by increased eye pressure, weakness in the optic nerve or a combination of both. If the pressure becomes too high, it damages the optic nerve immediately. This condition can broadly be divided into two categories.
• Chronic or open angle glaucoma: This condition is quite common and leads to the blocking of drainage channels. The pressure builds gradually. Although there is no pain, vision starts becoming impaired over time.
• Acute or closed angle glaucoma: This is a rare condition and involves the sudden blocking of fluid to the eye. It is very painful and leads to complete and permanent vision impairment. It is best treated through glaucoma surgery.
4. Macular Degeneration: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common cause of blindness and around 500,000 people in the UK are suffering from it. It occurs in people over 50 years of age and deteriorates central vision. It may affect both eyes and can be dry or wet. Around 90% of AMD patients develop dry AMD. In this, the cells in the macula become weak over time and, within ten years, central vision deteriorates in most cases. Cases of wet AMD are rare and involve the growth of blood vessels behind the retina. This can damage the macula through leakage. Symptoms of AMD include distortion or blurriness of the central vision, colour or share impairment and dark patches in the central vision. Factors that typically lead to AMD are age, smoking, a poor diet, high blood pressure, genetic and sunlight.
Other eye conditions include Blepharospasm (contraction of one of the muscles controlling the eyelids), Dry Eye Syndrome (a problem with the lubricating film) and Pterygium (a raised tissue in the cornea). Eye operations and vision correction surgery have become increasingly simple with advancements in medical science.
For treatment from some of the top ophthalmic surgeons in the UK, browse the internet for specialist eye hospitals. Precision, experience (both in the NHS and private sector) and the latest ophthalmic techniques and facilities are among the values you should look for.

Essential Information You Need To Know About Hair Regrowth by Jeff Schuman
A good solution for hair regrowth is something that many people are searching for these days. A loss of hair is more common than you may think it is and people searching for ways to re-grow their hair are also more common than most people believe.
Before you use any method for re-growing your hair you need to know some important information about it.
The first thing you need to understand is that there are a lot of treatments available for re-growing your hair but you don't want to just get any of them. There are some that can cause damage to your hair or scalp so you have to be careful about what you use and you have to do your homework before making your final choice.
Hair loss happens in many different people for many different reasons. For some people the hair loss is treatable but in others it is not. Before you use any treatment that will help you re-grow your hair you need to take time to talk to your doctor.
The doctor can help you diagnose what is causing your loss of hair and this will make finding an effective treatment for it easier. The doctor may even be able to recommend a product that will effectively help you re-grow your hair.
Re-growing your hair should not be risky for anyone and that is why you want to use one of two options to ensure that it is not. One option is to use natural hair re-growth treatments that have been proven to be safe and effective.
The second option is to visit a professional and let them help you or at least recommend the right hair re-growth treatment for you. They have knowledge and experience that can be a big benefit to you and helping you deal with your problem if you just give them the chance and the time to help you.
Either option is good but be sure that the treatment that is used will incorporate ingredients that will help with re-growing your hair but also for fortifying your scalp and safely moisturizing the hair follicles; as well as one that will gently stimulate the growth without damaging or blistering your scalp.
This essential information will help you find the best hair regrowth for your particular hair loss problem. Just be sure that you take your time and find the best re-growing option for you to use so you don't end up with other problems you don't need from not being smart and making a wise choice about what to use.

Can Illness Break a Heart? by Dr Kirk Laman
Hearts can be broken. We all know this. Most of us have had our heart broken by a relationship that has fallen apart.
We know the incredible feeling of despondency, that feeling of being lost, that comes when our heart has been shattered. Yet, relationships aren’t the only thing that can break a heart.
Our hearts can be broken by illness. Heart disease is truly one way that our hearts can be broken. Not long ago, a 50 year-old man, who I’ll call John, came to me with congestive heart failure. His heart was failing to pump blood effectively. It was weakened because of blocked heart arteries. When the blood supply to the heart is cut off, the muscle weakens.
Imagine tying a very tight rubber band around your finger. If you tied it tight enough your finger would turn red, then white, and finally if you left it on long enough your finger would begin to die. It would eventually turn black and whither away. You wouldn’t be able to move your finger. As the blood flow was diminished it would cease to function.
My patient’s heart was being strangled. Cholesterol blockages were causing his heart to wither away.
His heart was being broken, literally being physically broken. And at the same time his heart was being psychologically tormented. Because his physical heart was being pinched, his emotional heart was also experiencing a feeling of pinching.
As a cardiologist, I have seen that this is a common occurrence. If a person’s physical heart is damaged, it also affects them emotionally and psychologically. We cannot separate what happens at the physical level with what happens at the non-physical levels. Physical symptoms incite feelings.
John was afraid. When his ability to climb steps manifested and he saw his world shrinking, he became worried. Anxiety began to come. Soon he became paralyzed with emotional dysfunction.
His heart began weaken not just physically but also psychologically. In this state he became too frightened to even seek medical help. He ignored his illness. He wrote off his inability to climb steps as being out of shape. This went on for many months. Soon his legs begin to swell as he retained water. He put this off as eating too much salt. After awhile, his physical symptoms became impossible to ignore. He collapsed and was rushed to the emergency room
Illness is like this. We think that illness is something that affects us just physically but our psyches are inexplicably intertwined with our bodies. We cannot separate the two.
Illness can break the heart on many levels. It can bring fear and uncertainty into our lives. It can make us doubt ourselves. It can paralyze rational thinking.
What to do if your heart is breaking? If you have the sense that your heart is breaking whether psychologically or just physically- you have to take action.
1. Don’t stick your head in the sand. If you think something is wrong seek medical attention.
2. Recognize that physical illness can create psychologically illness.
3. Take steps to heal your physical illness.
4. Seek out ways to minimize your psychological trauma.
5. Find a counselor. Take up meditation, yoga, or consider the Sufi Technique of Practicing Remembrance.
You don’t have to let physical illness overwhelm you emotionally. You can find safe haven even in the midst of stormy weather.

Can I Get Different Results with the Same Habits? by Dr Kirk Laman
You want to lose weight. You want to quit smoking or exercise more, but your habits are keeping you from making these changes. Is it possible to get different results and not make changes in life style habits.
Albert Einstein said that this is the definition of insanity-"doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
You would be surprised to know that many, many people expect just this. Not long ago, a middle-aged man came into the hospital. He was suffering from congestive heart failure and a rapid heart beat. His heart had become weakened. The heart pumping function had dropped from a normal value of 55% down to 30%. When I suggested that he would need to be on medications long term and lose weight (he weighed over 400 pounds) to help his heart returned back to normal he said, "Why, I've been living this way for many years. Why should I change?"
I explained that his current habits had created a situation in which his heart was failing. HIs blood pressure was off the charts. His legs were massively swollen, retaining fluid.
I asked him, "Do you think you can do the same thing but get different result?"
Amazingly, he had to think for a long, long time. "I've had skipped beats for many years."
"Yes, you probably have, but now they've progressed to an abnormal heart rhythm. This has caused your heart to weaken. So it's not the same," I said.
His face scrunched up in a state of disbelief. I could tell he didn't want to accept what I was trying to say to him. He had to know that things were different. Sure he may have had skipped beats before, but now he was in the hospital and had excessively labored breathing.
I stayed in his room for 10 more minutes, but I couldn't convince him that he would have to make some major changes in his life. He said, "I like what I do. I'd rather die than give up the things I love (eating, smoking)
Later that day I began to ponder what had happened with this patient. Why was it so difficult for people to accept change, or to recognize that they needed to change their lives?
1. People are creatures of habit. They like routine. It makes them feel safe.
2. They don't like stepping out into what they perceive as an unsafe area of their live.
3. People want it easy. They are too willing to give up and not do something they may perceive as difficult.
Are you someone like this? Do you have bad habits that are ruining your health? If you're someone who is suffering because of this predicament, I have a few suggestions and thoughts:
1. Sticking your head in the sand may work for a short period, but eventually life has a way of exposing such wrong headed thinking.
2. The quicker you wake up and address your problems, the more likely you'll be to avoid permanent damage to your health.
3. There are worse things than dying. If you ignore serious health issues you may not die, but may have to suffer horrible pain or suffering because of your illness.
4. Continue trying to change. Don't give up. Even if you fail this day, or this week- try again. Most people who succeed have failed before.
I hope you find this helpful in your efforts to overcome unwanted lifestyle habits.

Lifting Your Heart by Dr Kirk Laman
Summer is a time for relaxation. It is a time for rejuvenation. Most of us make time for family activities. We get away for a week or two to the lake or ocean to enjoy life.
Summer is a time for lifting our heart. Our hearts need to be lifted. Often modern life is filled with stress. I know of many people who have extreme stress in their lives. They run here and there. Modern life what with a never turned off cell phone leaves little room for down-time. It’s run, run, run….no wonder so many people are depressed or anxious.
Todays economy can also make a person worry. Just reading the paper can give you a headache. Worry has been shown to create heart disease.
When I say lifting the heart what I mean is moving our hearts from a place of constriction to a place of openness. I mean taking away the closed in feeling of the world and replacing it with a lighter, healthier feeling.
Feelings can create health. They can also cause illness. When we have feelings of sadness, anger, or broken heartedness- this can lead to illness.
Everyone’s heart wants to be lifted. It wants to be opened. No-one wants to have a heart that feels like a thousand pound weight is sitting on top of it.
Did you know that it’s possible to get rid of anxiety, or relieve yourself of overwhelming stress? It is possible. It is possible to elevate your heart’s consciousness. You can lift your heart to a place of peace, joy, and feeling of well-being. Open-heartedness is a state that can be learned.
Steps for Lifting Your Heart
1. Find a quiet place to be alone.
2. Make sure you have 15-20 minutes with no distractions.
3. Sit or lie down to feel very relaxed.
4. Focus your consciousness on the heart region.
5. Begin breathing deeply watching the breath.
6. Say “aaahhhh” through an open mouth. Let the sound travel to the heart region.
7. As you say “aaahhh” visualize love, divine energy, or light traveling down into the heart.
8. After 8-10 breaths, pause and notice your heart. See what you feel. Does your heart feel more relaxed and open.
9. Repeat this process for 15 minutes.
10. Enjoy the feelings of peace and calmness.
You can indeed lift and open the heart. You can rid yourself of unwanted, unpleasant emotions and harmful feelings.
Enjoy the warm breezes of Summer. Let your heart be lifted to a place of health.

Biceps Exercises For Male Bodybuilders by Darren Firth
Building well defined, large biceps is important to many male Bodybuilders. There are numerous bicep exercises that can be done. However, there are some that work better than others. Try a few of these during your training and see what a difference they can make.
Incline concentration curls.
This exercise will hit the inner head of the biceps.
You will need a bench and a dumbbell to do these curls. Lay on a bench on your back and raise the bench to a 45 degree angle. With the dumbbells in hand, keep your arms at your side and your palms facing inward. Your elbows should be kept in as well. Curl the dumbbell to your shoulder, rotate your wrist so that your palm is facing the ceiling. As you lower the first arm, begin raising the other arm. These can also be done at the same time, using both arms at once.
Don't forget to stretch the biceps at the bottom of every movement and squeeze the muscle at the top, I have said it before and I will say it again this really is key to getting the most out of any exercise.
EZ Bar Reverse Curls
This exercise will hit the outer head of the biceps.
Stand with your feet slightly apart and holding an EZ bar. Make sure your elbows are tucked in at your sides and your palms are facing downward. With this curl, you can use a shoulder width grip or a close grip. There is also the option of changing it up periodically. Curl the EZ bar to your shoulders and then uncurl.
Close Grip Chin Ups
This will hit the outer head of the biceps, if you take a wide grip or a grip at shoulders width it will hit the inner head of the biceps.
Chin ups though simple are extremely effective in building larger, stronger, more defined biceps also probably in my opinion one of the best back exercises as well.. You are lifting your own body weight and additional weights can be added to your body if you are already able to lift your own body weight. Start at a chip up bar that can be reached easily. Place your hands close together, with your palms face upward. Make sure your hands are on either side of your chin. Keep your head straight and facing forward. Make sure your elbows point downward and pull yourself up to your chin. Make sure your chin goes over the bar.
Dumbbell Concentration Curls
This exercise gives the biceps a peak.
These curls are specifically for the biceps. Using a dumbbell sit down, bent over, with your legs shoulder width apart. Your knees should be bent as well. Starting with your right arm, pick the dumbbell up and place your elbow against the inside of your knee. Make sure your arm stays straight and your palm is facing the opposite leg. Curl your arm up until it is mid-chest, almost to your shoulder. Uncurl your arm back to straight again. Repeat with the other arm.
Once you have mastered this exercise try doing it standing bent over and having you arm unsupported by your inner leg, this really hits the peak of the biceps.
Also try this exercise with a barbell, in a standing position bend over and curl the barbell up to your head, try to lift your elbows a little at the top of the movement as this will let you squeeze the muscle better.
Barbell Bicep Curls
This exercise gives the biceps an overall workout and mass.
Another simple curl that is easy to do, but produces great results. Stand with feet shoulder width apart. Pick up the barbell with your palms facing away from your body. Make sure your elbows stay tucked into your sides and lift the barbell until it is at shoulder height.
Once again lift your elbow up slightly to squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement. Uncurl your arms until they are straight in front of you again.

Simple Tips For Your Fitness Journey by Robert D. Franklin
Those of us on the weight loss path often focus too much on losing the weight that we forget a very important aspect of staying healthy: our nutrition and how it ties into our body chemistry.
If you are on a weight loss journey with fitness plans and diet menus, you should follow these important yet simple tips given here:
1) Drink Plenty Of Water
Water is key in helping the body in tranporting nutrients. It is ideal to drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Not only will that help the body absorb nutrients and eliminate toxins, but will also help you feel full.
2) Include A Good Amount Of Vegetables And Fruits In Your Diet

3) Have Small Meals At Regular Intervals
You should eat five to six small meals at small intervals of three to four hours instead of having three big meals a day. Eating small meals helps improve metabolism. It also helps in easy digestion and maintaining uniform energy level throughout the day. You should include a variety of foods in your meals so that your body gets proper nutrition. Let's say you have a sandwich, which is high in carbohydrates, for breakfast, you should have fruits and nuts in between breakfast and lunch, and tofu or lean meat, which are high in proteins, for lunch. In this manner, your body will get all the essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins.
4) Avoid Calories That Don't Mean A Thing
The so-called "empty" calories refer to food items that are high in calories but low in nutrition. Some examples of such food items are aerated drinks, French fries, cookies, white bread and the like. These types of foods are definitely not useful for your body. They create a sluggish digestive system causing it to be inefficient. It is best for someone to refrain from consuming these food items irrespective of whether he or she is trying to lose weight or not.
5) Never Skip Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You should never skip it; otherwise you will tend to consume high calorie foods during the later part of the day. A wholesome and healthy breakfast is essential for good health.
6) Read Food Labels
Before buying any packaged or processed food, you should read its label. Check the nutrition facts. Learn to interpret the information on food labels to avoid falling prey to marketing gimmicks. For example, a low-fat food or a low-sugar food does not necessarily mean the food is low in calories.

National Institutes Of Health Spotlights TM Research by Linda Mainquist
A recent study found daily Transcendental Meditation practice helps young adults decrease psychological stress and increase coping ability, and for a group of students at high risk for developing hypertension, these changes also were associated with decreases in blood pressure.
The study was conducted at American University (AU) in Washington, D.C. and involved hundreds of meditating university undergraduate and graduate students. The study was published in the American Journal of Hypertension.
The results of the study are now being highlighted on the research page of the official website of the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Those of us who work at universities know that a huge number of students are experiencing more academic, financial, and social stress than ever before, and this pressure frequently leads to serious problems. This experience is borne out by a growing body of research documenting rising stress among college students.
A study conducted at Kansas State Unviversity, which included 13,000 students, found that over the 13-year period of time, the percentage of students with depression rose from 21 percent to 41 percent. The percentage of suicidal students rose from 5 to 9 percent, and students with stress and anxiety problems rose from 36 to 62 percent.
My work in counseling psychology makes me especially concerned about the counterproductive ways that today’s young adults are dealing with this these problems. Studies indicate that 44% of college students are binge drinkers, 10 million students are taking antidepressant medication, student counseling centers are overwhelmed by the rising number of students reporting anxiety disorders, and suicide has risen to be the 3rd leading cause of death among teens.
Can the TM program really help? I think American University’s study provides solid evidence it can.
By the way, the meditating students in this study at AU were also asked to summarize their subjective experiences after a semester of TM practice. Here’s a sample:
Anne-Barton “I’m just as busy as I was last semester, but since I have been practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique, I don’t feel as overwhelmed as I did then. It’s easier to stay organized. I’m more efficient, staying on top of things—both in the big picture and keeping track of the details. I am much happier and freer to take on more things. Also when I make mistakes I’m better able to deal with them practically and emotionally, simply taking corrective steps without beating myself up. My relationships with others are better because my relationship with myself is better.” —Anne Barton-Veenkant, Georgetown University
You can read some of the other experiences these university students had by clicking benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Program here: http://au-tm-study.org/student_benefits.html
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Three hundred undergraduate and graduate students from American University and surrounding college campuses will learn the Transcendental Meditation program during the two-year project. The research will evaluate the health and educational outcomes of TM practice in these students, with additional focus on students with learning disorders.
OUTCOME ASSESSMENT
Over the course of the study, the 300 participating students will be measured at baseline and again after six months of practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Approximately half the students will learn the Transcendental Meditation technique during the initial semester of the project (Spring 2006), with the other half serving as wait-listed controls during this time period. The control group will then learn the Transcendental Meditation program at the start of the next semester (Fall 2006), with follow-up for approximately one year.
Standard measures for all students in the study will include blood pressure, health behaviors (smoking, alcohol, and substance usage), psychological stress, emotional intelligence, practical intelligence, and academic achievement.
In addition, three subgroups of students (50–60 per subgroup) will be evaluated, respectively, for 1) neurophysiological integration, using EEG brainwave coherence measures, 2) cognitive intelligence, and 3) attention/inattention, using the Connors Continuous Performance Test and self-rating scale, for those students with a recent diagnosis of attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity.

Advanced Macular Degeneration Treatment by Kathryn Dawson
Macular degeneration treatment utilizes advanced medicinal processes to cure damage to the retina. Age related macular degeneration, or AMD, is the most common type of vision impairment among individuals above the age of 50 in the UK. It occurs due to the breakdown of light sensitive cells in the central part of the retina, called the macula, which gives us the fine detail in our vision. This leads to problems of blurring, making it difficult to analyze fine details of an object. A person suffering severely from this impairment cannot read, write or drive. A majority of patients (almost 90%) suffer from dry macular degeneration.
The symptoms of macular degeneration begin to surface very slowly. During the initial stages, the patient experiences hazy vision. This is followed by a loss in the ability to recognize faces or fine details of an object or image. In case of wet macular degeneration, the patient faces blind spots that hamper proper vision. If an individual suffers from similar visionary defects then they should consult an eye specialist immediately.
About Macular Degeneration Treatment
Different forms of macular degeneration treatment are available to control the loss of vision due to damage to the retina. With dry macular degeneration, an individual loses only the central vision. So, he is able to perform routine work properly apart from reading, writing and driving. However, if the damage to the retina is not controlled, the patient may gradually lose eyesight. With effective treatment of macular degeneration, it is possible to control further the damage to the macula through changing diet and lifestyle. Usually, eye specialists recommend the following to control vision damage:
• Maintaining low blood pressure
• A nutritional diet
• Eye drops to clear dust clogs in the eyes
• Protection from high intensity sunlight (i.e. wearing sunglasses)
• Cutting out smoking (which of course benefits many other parts of the body)
Diet is important as it helps to eat foods rich in anti-oxidants, as well as naturally occurring bright colours, or pigments, in vegetables such as broccoli and spinach and peppers.
Although rare in occurrence, wet macular degeneration is a complex visual defect that can lead to complete blindness. At present there is no treatment available to correct the vision lost due to wet macular degeneration. However, there are treatments available through eye care facilities to control future damage due to wet macular degeneration. This may entail the use of Anti-VEGF medicines. This is an advanced form of macular degeneration treatment. VEGF is a group of chemicals that is responsible for the growth of new blood vessels in the body. Anti-VEGF medications tend to curb the production of these chemicals; thus controlling the development of new blood vessels around the retina.
With the development of medicinal science, one can expect more advanced forms of treatments, such as cataracts surgery or LASIK eyes surgery, to cure macular degeneration.
Macular Degeneration Treatment: Complications
There are no major complications associated with macular degeneration treatment. In the majority of the cases, the patient experiences better vision within a few days of treatment. Post-treatment care is very important to control damage to the retina. It is essential to follow a nutritional diet plan prescribed by your eye surgeon.
For more information on advanced macular degeneration treatments, browse the internet for top eye hospitals. You will be looking for a specialist provider of ophthalmic services. For example, they may utilize advanced LMI (Lipshitz Macular Implant) technology for treating severe forms of dry AMD. This macular degeneration treatment aims to magnify the central vision field of the patient by implanting a tiny lens into the eye. With a larger field, the patient is able to notice fine details of the objects much like normal vision.

Availing of Acupressure Massage Therapy from a Licensed Massage Therapist or LMT by Chris Lontok
To avail of proper acupressure massage therapy, make sure you get it only from a licensed massage therapist (LMT). While acupressure massage therapy is an age old massage modality, its health benefits are still widely recognized today.
The basic principle behind acupressure is that life and health is supported by the unimpeded flow of Qi which is believed to be the natural energy that flows through all living things. If Qi is in proper balance, the body is believed to be capable of self-regeneration and self-healing. Qi is believed to flow through twelve main meridians of the body. The meridians are said to correspond to certain body organs. The flow of Qi through the meridians could be blocked by physical, emotional and psychological tension, trauma and even negative thoughts. This then results in problems in the body organs.
Acupressure is similar to acupuncture in the fact that the treatment works on meridian points in an effort to remove any blocks to the flow of Qi. The meridian points in the body number more than 300. The difference is that acupuncture uses needles while acupressure is done with the therapist’s bare hands. As the proper meridian points are stimulated, a surge of energy is supposedly created which removes any blockage in that meridian. As the flow of Qi is restored, pain is relieved, most illnesses begin to heal and general well being is enhanced.
You can avail of more than just acupressure massage services from a licensed massage therapist. An LMT also provides other massage modalities such as reflexology, craniosacral massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, shiatsu and even pregnancy massage. An LMT also frequently treats victims of auto accidents, which is why a licensed massage therapist usually does insurance billing for people in auto accidents. Truly, a licensed massage therapist is your best health ally.

Sales Pharmaceutical Job Profile by Silas Reed
The opportunity for sales jobs in pharmaceutical company is manifold times more than most other industries. This is because a pharmaceutical company depends majorly upon the effective working of its sales representatives. These sales persons are vested with the duty of door to door campaigning. They fix appointments with different doctors and make it a point to personally visit them and explain to them the benefits of the medicines that their company has been producing.
Since the physicians are themselves too busy to keep themselves up to date regarding the latest medicines to have hit the market, therefore it is the duty of these sales representatives to carry forward the news to them. They not only brief the doctors about the new brands of medicines but a good a sales person convinces the doctor to prescribe these medicines to their patients. It is an effective way of marketing medicines since the doctors themselves remain too occupied to study the medicine market and find out on their own how effective the new medicines have turned out to be.
Thus in essence, the task of the pharmaceutical sales representatives is to increase the market share for their company’s products. The work of the pharmaceutical sales person needs to be carried out in adherence to certain strict code of conduct. That is to say, these people cannot indirectly tempt the doctors into prescribing their brand of medicine such as by taking them out for dinner and then footing the bill etc. Therefore all that these people are entitled to use are their persuasive tools of carrying forward a conversation coupled with statistical data to convince the doctors how their medicine is better and more effective than their competitor’s.
There are two types of sales representatives who work in the pharmaceutical industry:
•One who specializes in medicines needed to cure a particular disease
•And the other, who are assigned the work of marketing all types of general medicines to general and family practice physicians.
Now that you have a more or less clear cut idea about sales pharmaceutical job profile, let me tell you the prerequisites for bagging such a job. Pharmaceutical companies prefer people who come from the science background and have at least kept science till their graduation. It’s the best choice for the company if they happen to chance upon someone from the science background with a management degree in marketing. These companies often take up people as trainees and offer them on-the-job training experience so that they get well versed with all the nuances of marketing drugs. These experiences toughen them up to face rejection and wizen them up to use strategic marketing techniques to convince their assigned physician.
The pharmaceutical industry has place for a lot of people since it involves work at the grass root level. Not only can you opt for the post of sales representative, which is practically the lowest rung of the professional ladder in this context, but you can also choose the option of managing the trainee sales staff, if you feel that you are good with handling managerial responsibilities. Apart from these two, you also have the chance of trying for the post of pharmaceutical sales executive. These are the people who come up with sales strategies for the company and assign different work to different people depending on their merit.
So, you see that sales pharmaceutical job opportunities are aplenty- you just need to keep a look out for them!

Why Are You Not Losing Weight? by Roseanna Leaton
I noticed something the other day on MSNBC.com relating to weight loss. Various reasons were provided for why so many people fail to lose weight successfully. The biggies all focused in upon ones mental approach to weight loss as opposed to changes of pure habit.
It was good to see this important fact being correctly given a high degree of recognition. Most people just think about weight loss in terms of what to cut out of their diet, or what quantity to eat at each meal or how many calories they need to burn each day or week. Yes these things need to be attended to, they have to be attended to, or you will not lose weight. But ones attitude towards these things dictates the willingness and ease with which your habits are adapted.
The reasons identified and highlighted by MSNBC for not losing weight were:-
1) That you are not fully committed.
2) That people expect miracles in terms of expecting to shed pounds as easily as shelling peas.
3) The diet or weight loss program is simply not sustainable and more appropriate to a really quick fix or patch up job.
4) That most people have an inability to forgive themselves for a slip up.
If you examine each of these carefully they all focus upon your attitude, your mental approach, to the task of losing weight. Can you identify with any one of these four key barriers to successful weight loss, or perhaps to all four of them? If any of these four statements do indeed resonate with you, you have in fact almost certainly found the vital key which will unlock the door to your successful weight loss.
Success in anything in life is dependent upon your attitude and willingness to go that extra mile. Simply by turning your attention to how you think about weight loss you make the task a whole lot easier for yourself. The task itself does not change, pounds themselves do not just vanish into thin air; but it is a lot easier to lose weight when your mind and your emotions are singing from the same hymn sheet.

Diet Plans And Menus - The Atkins Diet by Levi Reiss
The Atkins Diet is one of the best known diets. It consists of four phases, the induction phase, the ongoing weight loss phase, the pre-maintenance phase, and the lifetime maintenance phase. The induction phase lasts two weeks. In this phase you will burn off your fat reserves and free yourself from food dependencies. It is very important to avoid forbidden foods such as bread, pasta, fruits, and certain vegetables. Be sure to quit eating when you are no longer hungry. Your daily consumption of glucides must not exceed 20 grams a day. The ongoing weight loss phase lasts for several weeks. In many ways it resembles the previous phase. Now your food intake may include small red fruits or berries, cheese such as cottage cheese or mozzarella, or nuts such as almonds or walnuts. Another choice is sunflower seeds. You may also add lemon juice or tomato juice to your diet at this point. Pay strict attention to the quantities of all these additional foods and do not add more than 5 grams of glucides to your daily intake.
Your consumption of glucides increases by 10 grams weekly throughout the pre-maintenance phase. During this phase you have to add foods one at a time to your diet. Each week you add 10 grams to your daily glucide intake. Permitted fruits include kiwi, peach, apples or grapefruit, (half an apple or grapefruit per day), or one third of a banana. Other choices include lentils, dried green beans, chick peas, long grain brown rice, oatmeal, potatoes, and carrots. Among the principles to follow in the lifetime maintenance phase are: avoid prepared foods (they tend to contain excessive glucides), stay away from sugar, practice sports or exercise a half hour a day, and moderate your caffeine and alcohol consumption.
The Atkins Diet is relatively easy to follow, at least if and when you reach the later stages. You don't have to count calories. This diet claims to help fight heart disease, high blood pressure, and Type 2 diabetes. Among its disadvantages are the major changes in dietary habits and the lack of variety in the early stages. During these stages many people suffer from constipation due to the lack of fiber and fruits.
Here are two sample menus: Menu 1 (Induction phase) Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with nitrate-free bacon and stewed tomatoes. Lunch: Chicken salad and nitrate-free ham and cheese. A fried egg with hamburger. Supper: Lamb chops, braised endives, and cheese.
Menu 2 (Ongoing weight loss phase) Breakfast: Fried eggs and creamed salmon. Lunch: Steak (half pound) with spinach, cucumber, and celery salad. Supper: Shrimp cocktail with mayonnaise. Roast chicken and red pepper. Cream cheese.
Some of the information in this article comes from a fascinating new book, La Bible des Regimes, written by Jenny de Jonquieres and published by Amerik Media. Her book describes more than 80 diets and weight reduction programs. Each diet is presented with 5 menu plans, a detailed discussion of its advantages and disadvantages, and a whole lot more. La Bible des Regimes is presently available only in French. For more information consult the publisher's website www.amerik-media.com.

Eye Treatments For Major Eye Disorders by Kathryn Dawson
State-of-the-art research facilities and ophthalmic medical expertise have resulted in sophisticated eye treatments for various eye conditions. Top notch private hospitals and ophthalmologists make use of highly technical and computerized surgical equipment to treat patients suffering from eye diseases and injuries. Be it eye cataracts, laser vision correction, cosmetic procedures or retinal disorders, medical science has a solution to simple and complex eye conditions.
Eye Treatments: Major Categories of Eye Disorders
Eye treatments for the major categories of eye disorders are as follows:
Cataract: Surgery is the only effective way to treat cataract and remove the cloudy lens. Patients are typically given a local anesthetic and the surgery is performed using a microscope. The duration of the surgery is generally 20 minutes (this may be longer in some cases). During the surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens (intraocular lens implant) to enable the eye to see clearly. In most cases, there is an instant improvement in vision; however some patients may have to wait for a few months for complete healing. Post surgery, patients are advised to wear glasses and are prescribed eye drops for faster healing.
Diabetic Eye Conditions: Sight loss caused by diabetes is preventable. However, it is crucial for diabetics to undergo regular eye checkups for early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. In most cases, patients are given laser treatment to preserve the existing sight (it cannot improve the sight). Through high precision laser beams, blood vessels that cause leakage of fluid into the retina are sealed. Such eye treatments take place as outpatient surgery. Before the surgery, the eye is numbed using eye drops to prevent the eye from blinking.
Glaucoma: In case of chronic glaucoma, the treatment aims at reducing pressure in the eye. The treatment may involve eye drops, laser treatment or a trabeculectomy operation, depending upon the severity of the problem. It must be noted that the treatment only prevents further damage but cannot cure what has already been damaged. In case of acute glaucoma, one should visit the hospital immediately. Eye drops are given to relieve soreness, followed by laser treatment in many cases to drain away the fluid.
Macular Degeneration: For dry AMD (or age related macular degeneration), the aim is to control it via lifestyle and diet changes. Patients are advised to use visual aids, wear sunglasses, stop smoking and eat foods rich in anti-oxidants. According to some studies, vitamin supplements have proved helpful in checking dry AMD. On the other hand, wet AMD can be treated by administering anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) drugs through painless injections. These prevent new blood vessels from growing. In many cases, anti-VEGF drugs proved helpful in retrieving lost sight. However, early detection of wet AMD is vital for the treatment to be effective.
Among other eye conditions, Blepharospasm is treated through medication or surgery in severe cases. Dry Eye Syndrome and pterygium are treated with artificial tears or eye drops. Technological advancements have resulted in cures for eye conditions from simple eye cataracts to major retinal disorders. Eye operations are also known as orogolomistician surgery or ocular surgery. They are typically performed by an ophthalmologist.
If you are suffering from any of the above conditions, you may need the services of a highly reputed ophthalmic services provider. To find one, search the internet for an eye hospital equipped with state-of-the-art surgical, laser and imaging equipment to successfully perform various eye treatments. If you require retina or macular surgery, then you will be looking for the ability to provide treatment for retinal conditions such as macular hole. With modern equipment and a world-class team of surgeons and care staff, a top eye hospital will be able to offer effective eye treatments, while ensuring maximum convenience to patients.
