10 Secrets for a Healthy Weight Loss Plan by Lisa Mason

Before launching your diet, you need to determine what is going to be the best weight for you. This will be your compass that guides you on your journey to a healthy

weight loss plan. “Fast” weight loss does not mean that you will lose 40 pounds at a drop of a hat. It can take months to shed your desired weight and what is most

important is to follow a healthy weight loss plan that ensures you safely take off your excess pounds.

Here are some healthy weight loss plan tips:

1. The first step you must take is to determine what your daily calorie intake should be. If you are not very active, multiply your weight (in pounds) by fifteen. If

you are moderately active, multiply your weight by seventeen; if you are active, multiply your weight by twenty. This simple formula will tell you what are the average

calories you need.

2. Always remember to eat vegetables and fruits! You need at least five servings of them per day – doing this will put you on the right track to a healthy body,

because fruits and vegetables have beneficial fibers, vitamins and antioxidants. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables also helps fill you up so you won’t want to eat

junk food and other fillers.

3. Take stock of the quantity of food you eat. It’s important to avoid high calorie foods and also to watch the size of your portions. Learn to chew your food slowly

because this makes digestion easy on your body, and you will also be less likely to overeat.

4. It’s important not to skip meals. It might seem like a good idea to starve yourself– but eating small amounts of food frequently can help you achieve a balanced

calorie intake throughout the day. Also, you will be able to keep a more balanced sugar intake. You can even have five to six smaller meals throughout the day which

will help curb your cravings. But be sure to remember portion control.

5. Fresh fruits and vegetables are ideal – packaged and processed foods have high sodium and fat content. Naturally fresh foods are most likely to help you attain

weight loss.

6. Be careful not to deprive yourself so severely that you never have a treat. Once in awhile it’s fine to indulge yourself. It’s okay to have that slice of pizza or

piece of birthday cake. Just be sure to watch the size of your portions and use those special treats as rewards, instead of enemies, in your weight loss efforts.

7. Be careful when you read a food label. “Fat free” does not necessarily mean low calories. The same goes for foods that state they are “low sugar” or “low carbs.”

Review the nutrition label to find the calorie content and other valuable information.

8. It’s important to limit the number of juices and sugary beverages you drink. Drink eight glasses water a day – this flushes out your body’s toxins and waste.

9. Keeping a food journal can really be helpful. This will help you keep track of the types of foods you eat and what your daily calorie intake has been.

10. Remember that exercise is very important as well. Thirty minutes of physical activity a day will improve your health and facilitate weight loss. Weight-bearing

exercises are especially great ways to burn extra calories.

Follow these 10 tips for a healthy weight loss plan and you will be well on your way to achieving the weight loss you desire.
