Acne Treatment. What Are Alternatives to Accutane?


There are many different acne medicines besides Accutane. There are topical antibiotics and those include Clindamycin, Sulfur, Azelaic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide. There are also topical retinoids and those include Atrolin, Tazorac, Differin, and Retin A.
Then, there are the oral medicines for acne. Those include the the antibiotics Doxycycline, Minocycline, and Tetracycline. Sulfur oral antibiotics like Bactrum are also used, and less commonly, Penicillin derived antibiotics.
For women, there's also oral birth control as well as Spironolactone, a medicine that modulates testosterone in the skin. And finally, there are procedures that you can do for acne. Those include light therapy, photodynamic therapy, and laser therapy.
So as you can see, even if you don't want to go on Accutane, there's many different things that can be used to help you.
