Best Vegetarian Diet to Lose Weight by Laura Ng

Several overweight vegetarians ask me, "What is the best vegetarian diet to lose weight?" Here's my answer - It should promote true fat loss (not water loss) and provide your body with all key nutrients for excellent health. Sadly, most vegetarian weight loss diets out there only come with the fat loss attribute. When it comes to keeping you healthy, they fail left and right.

Take the high-protein, low-carb vegetarian weight loss diet. It can cause embarrassment for you by making your mouth stink - you got bad breath (urgh!). It can also lead to poor concentration, headache, constipation etc. Hence, potentially harmful diet like this can never be the best vegetarian diet to lose weight.

I advocate healthy vegetarian weight loss, so I always recommend any overweight vegetarians to go with a vegetarian weight loss diet that includes lots of whole natural foods in its meal plan. Here's the sample vegetarian diet to help you lose weight:

In the morning, you'll take a fresh veggie smoothie (of ratio 3:2 - fruit to vegetable) added with 2 tbsp virgin coconut oil as your power breakfast - full of natural fiber, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.

Then after about 2 - 3 hours, you'll eat a handful of mixed grains and nuts as morning snack to power you up further. At lunch, you'll eat a meal full of complex-carbohydrate, fiber and protein to replenish your energy and keep you energized for your afternoon job.

At about 3 - 4 P.M., you can feed your stomach with some fresh fruits like bananas, apple, dragon fruit etc as your afternoon snack to boost your metabolism for more fat burning.

At dinner time, you can have a rainbow salad or a self-made Portobello mushroom burger that includes high fiber which will kill your cravings for supper and last you till the following morning.

You see how nutritious all your vegetarian weight loss meals are? And did you notice the key ingredients in almost every meal? Yes, it's fiber. I can't believe that anyone who's serious about healthy weight loss can omit fiber in their vegetarian diet to lose weight.

Fiber gives you the bulk and slows down your food digestion so you won't feel hungry easily and won't likely eat more than your body needs. Fiber helps to improve your bowel movement for daily waste removal. That explains why you should include adequate fiber in your vegetarian diet to lose weight effectively and healthily.

In fact, for your vegetarian diet to lose weight more effectively with half the effort, you should apply some nifty tactics while savoring your vegetarian weight loss meals, such as:

1. Eat slower to prevent you from feeling stuffed after meal.

2. Always keep at a satiety level of 70% for your main meals and 30 - 40% for your snacks.

3. Drink adequate water for proper body hydration which can boost metabolism.

4. Increase your metabolism to burn more fat by engaging in exercises.
