I have to warn you that most of the products marketed as advanced skin care formulas will do very little for you, as they are typically not as “advanced” as the manufacturer would like you to think. These thick, greasy “moisturizing” agents basically just penetrate the very outer layer of the skin, and much of the excess tends to form a film on the skin’s surface that collects dirt and clogs pores. These compounds will actually cause a reduction in the amount of oil your sebaceous glands are producing, so eventually petroleum compounds make your skin become dry.

Animal tissues and petroleum based compounds may be useless to you, but they are often the safest contents in an advanced skin care product. The cosmetics companies have a disturbing tendency towards the use of potentially dangerous chemical compounds in their formulas, so you have to really be careful about what it is you are buying. You don’t want a product filled with toxic and carcinogenic substances going on your skin.

All natural compounds such as protein complexes, enzymes, and plant extracts, oils, and waxes are what work best for the skin. Plant derivatives are excellent moisturizers, and they are incredibly compatible with the skin due to their close resemblance to your own sebum. Plant based compounds provide your skin with the antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and other nutrients that it needs.
