The New Elderly - - - Young Overweight People Who Are Getting What Used to be Age Related Illnesses Early by Paula Stone

It’s starting to snowball. The results of fast food, convenience foods are starting to show up in public health.

The US military said the 27% of high school graduates are too fat to serve in the military. They blamed school lunches.

18-year-old kids are already significantly disabled. It’s not just the weight. It’s what it’s doing to their bodies.

People who are heavy not only have a weight problem. They also have coronary artery disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and other illnesses.

And they are getting these illnesses younger and younger.

The damage is cumulative and inexorably relentless.

Not only will these people have shortened lives…sometimes 10 to 20 years…they will also be ill for a long time before they die.

Of course they might go quickly of a heart attack or stroke, but many don’t.

Diabetics with poor circulation often lose pieces of their bodies, first developing gangrene and then having to have amputations.

It’s frightening. But it is also preventable.

You don’t have to sit back and let it happen.

And don’t worry about dieting.

Here are a few effective strategies to help you even if you are already sick.

1. Stop eating fast food. Don’t even go to those places.

2. Don’t eat convenience foods from the grocer either. That stuff is full of fat and salt and sugar that you don’t need.

3. Don’t drink soft drinks that have sugar or high fructose corn syrup. Avoid sugar entirely. Your body does not need any of it.

4. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits, preferably raw.

5. Eat only whole grains. White flour and potatoes have very few nutrients and are not worth eating.

6. Eat good lean protein and not much fat.

7. Cook at home.

8. Take some vitamins. If you have been eating a lot of fast food or convenience foods you are probably starved for nutrients. Good health requires good nutrition.

9. As you lose weight try to get some exercise. You doctor needs to be involved with this. If you have been ill you need to be careful.

You may feel better than you have felt in years. And please notice that this is not a temporary diet. It’s a permanent change. You are going for something completely new and different and healthy.

Don’t get old before your time. Change for the better. It could save your life.
